  • Oh Kidcat, how awful for you. Take care of yourself, pneumonia can really drag you down. So what if the menfolk end up spending a few more quid than usual - it's special circumstances and you're worth it!

Kidcat: You take care now. Keep warm (no breathing in cold air) and put your feet up and be waited on.

To anyone thinking of exchanging their "double up" Tesco points for frangrances and toiletries: be aware of all the exclusions to the offer. For once, I didn't do my homework properly and it was only after I'd done the exchange that I read the bottom of the slip....can't be used for bath/shower gels, 3 for 2 gifts (and most of them ARE 3 for 2) hair products, dental stuff, mini toiletries....and on and on.
The only thing I could find a use for were expensive fragrances that I didn't want (and couldn't afford) to buy.
My fault for not checking, and I'm really annoyed with myself  I was hoping to use it for some prezzies.
    Normal people worry me.

The time has come - the time to do something I've been dreading - I'm going to have to break in a new pair of shoes

I have really soft feet - great because there's no nasty hard skin but terrible when it comes to new shoes. They always hurt - and yes they are the right size and width and I'm talking about flattish sensible shoes not killer heels.

But my trainers have fallen foul of puppy teething a bit too much for them to be OK to wear beyond the house/garden so it will be walking boots for dog walking and new shoes for shopping, hospital, driving, etc. Wish me luck :(

:( I nearly got caught the same way on the last voucher exchange. I thought it would be pretty savvy to stock up on some basic toiletries but fortunately I did a recce and twigged in time. I did clothing that time (new PJs) and this time, which was new jeans for brother and socks, one packet to be a gift and the other from me to....me!

((kidkat)) oh my goodness, please take good care of yourself and get well soon.

Scottishminnie, thanks for sharing your sneaky escapade with your pal and her teen daughters. Masterful OS-ing both of you. I am a very low-branded sort of person and have some toiletries in plain unlabelled bottles but once had a large pump-bottle of very upmarket salon shampoo gracing my humble abode. Friend had had her fair hair tinted red and had bought this premium colour-boosting shampoo, decided to revert to blonde after a few weeks and thought around for random redheads who might be glad of it.

:) I was very pleased to accept it and, although it smelled especially nice, it didn't perform any better than the 24p a litre stuff. I gave serious consideration to keeping it and decanting the el cheapo stuff into it and then thought I couldn't be bothered as anyone who knows me well enough to use my bathroom knows I'm not likely to be spending the same amount on shampoo as I would on a halfway decent wine..........:rotfl:

All is well in Shoebox Towers as far as I know and I got thru a shift without a single computer program curling up and dying on me, so a better day than yesterday.

:D We had the Yellow Ball for a couple of hours, too.:D

ETA Good luck, Lizzy, I hate breaking in new shoes too. I'm breaking in new orthotics so we can have a sympathetic grump. Have you got them already or will you (shudders) have to go and buy them?

KIDCAT, My husband had pneumonia 14 months ago and ended up in intensive care being pumped with all different kinds of medicines, and on oxygen,

Dr described him as being very poorly, we were all scared for 72 hrs drs said it could go either way, we sat by his bedside, he is only 51 yrs old, so do take care , you should be a bed with plenty of fluids, not sitting up typing away.!!!...Go get yourself rested immediately, you will drain yourself out, bad girl..!!.........

So how is everyone else doing? ...Anyone done all their christmas shopping yet? No not me.....Cutting back big time again this year, its a case of having too, So the government and all got together today to discuss fuel, yea youve all guessed it, theres no change there again, they will still raise it by 3 pence again soon, the country is on its knees yet they still milk us for more, no wonder its either eat or heat, I wish I could have £250 per year from the goverment for help with my heating fuel bills, dont you?..........

    Get well soon kidcat ((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))

You have my sympathies lizzyb. I have a pile of shoes that I love, but am unable to wear as they cause blisters :( Including a gorgeous pair of Converse All Stars printed with a black and red pattern of skulls and roses. DH didn't believe how much they were rubbing until I stopped at a cobblers in town and took them off the reveal blisters the size of 10p pieces on the back of both heels. I sit and look at them occasionally, but haven't had the guts to try wearing them again.

Mr T can be a $)*&^%$$%^* with their so called offers Hobsons Choice. I'm sorry that you got caught out.
I exchanged my vouchers today for Christmas presents and regret not doing it last week when the 3 for 2 on nightwear was still on. Still I got 3 fleece nightshirts for my friend's daughters, a cardigan for my friend Paula, two jumpers for my Mom, some Family Guy lounge pants for a friend's son and a T-shirt for DH. I also got some groceries and used a giftcard that was a present. So the grand total was 8p in cash. :D

I'm waiting for dinner to cook at the moment and the smell of roast chicken is making my stomach growl. Dinner is pork, sage and onion stuffed roast chicken (brought YS'ed), roast potatoes and parsnips, carrots and cauliflower, with lashings of gravy and maybe some extra sage and onion stuffing. That depends on if I want to get close to DH later as it has an unfortunate effect on his digestive system.

I hope everyone is well and happy.......bbl xxxx

Thanks for the sympathy re the shoes - and sorries that quite a few of you have the same problems :(

The shoes are bought GQ - 3 prs brand new with stickers but from local cs - v cheap and one pr hotter, one pr ecco and all well made. I break them in then wear them to death when I should really break them in as I get them and have more choice from day to day.

Walking boots are already done - need 2 prs socks and have put in heel grips and they are very comfy. So tomorrow it's onto the first pair of shoes with v thin socks and plasters in my bag. Off for a blood test and a quick whizz round S/bugs so max wear time about 2 hrs

Gosh! You'd think I'd have something better to talk about :rotfl:

I suspect people like me may be responsible for the strict rules re T's toiletries and vouchers - about a year ago I doubled the voucher value then spent them all on BOGOF Radox shower gels. I've still got a stash now and love the fact that they cost nothing (my vouchers came from heavy petrol purchases at the time and pump prices were competitive anyway).
