I agree on the charity front, I recently found out the area co ordinator for a particular charity earns over £80 000 a year :eek:

Afternoon all.
I've been off the forum for the past few days with a headache that just wouldn't shift: I was advised to stay off the computer (so no OS forum) and my beloved coffee, so you can imagine that it hasn't been a particularly cheerful weekend for me!
GQ - I'm very interested in your bulk flour buying: I found a company / organisation online last week that does the same thing by mail order - I wonder if it's the same place?
Re charities - I recently had to give a stern telling off to one charity which I support, after they sent me three letters and two emails in about three weeks, each one saying "we're sorry to see that you haven't been able to make an additional donation yet...". I don't think they realise how aggravating it is to make a donation and then receive endless hounding to donate more. And I quite agree about the packages some charities send in the hope of getting you to make a donation in response - what a waste of money!
It's a chilly, yellow ball-less day here, so I treated myself to a most un-OS hot sausage roll to go with my lunchtime soup: it was very tasty, though. Now I must go and do some work - it's a nasty shock after being off sick for three days, I can tell you!
Back after a very long break!0 -

John Humphries set up the Kitchen Table Charities precisely because of this abuse of charity money.0 -

I've runied my thai green curry. I put everything in the slow cooker but the only coconut milk I could get my hand on was reduced fat. It's all seperated now and I don't think I can salvage it
I'll get the meat out later but that's dinner ruined.
My little boys temperature is up and down too, not a good day for me today!0 -

Is that the one they appeal for at Xmas on the radio? I thought it was something to do with St. Martin's in the Field (the church in Trafalgar Sq) If it is I remember being really impressed with what they were doing when I heard a programme about it, small amounts of money, they said were really helping people in need out, things like having a gas cooker connected, or buying a winter coat.

Totally off subject (sorry)
I am going to be a foster mummy to some cats :j
I had the lady round today and we went through all the options and we decided that as I had four fur babies alreadythe best option would be to have a heated pen erected in the garden. It will have the space for two cats at a time and so we will be a short term stop gap until a home is found. On the plus side we will be able to help many cats rather than one and all the vet fees etc are covered on the down side I am worried I will get too attached. I am sure if there comes along one that is fabulously scrummy I will end up keeping it though
Hubby is on board and I can hear the cogs turning on where to put it :rotfl:
I hope it all goes well but it will take a few weeks to sort out. I am quite nervous now :rotfl:
Sorry to all those who don't like cats

It's possibly the same one, but I haven't heard it. There is a website which explains it all.
My biggest bugbear charities are ones like Children in Need and Comic/Sport Relief. Fronted by multi-millionaires asking us all to hand over the change from our purses. They could have a whip-round amongst themselves, donating thousands each and leave the rest of us alone.0 -
