Well, Sandra the slow cooker made an excellent job of the whole chicken - it even was a little tanned. Dinner was ready within moments of getting in thanks to frozen roasties (£1 from mr M and very passable and we didn't use them all) so we had a full roast dinner using frozen Home grown veg which was great considering i got in 3 hours later than intended. Carcass will go in freezer as i really can't be !!!!!d to make stock now and i've got little freezer space.

    I will do that again.

Off for an hour of chores before i finish my knitting - I am so rock n roll :rotfl:

DD2 NEVER finishes shampoo and conditioner before starting anew bottle, claims she can't get the last bits out. However she does like the same brand.

I discovered that if you heat the dregs in the microwave for 20 seconds it becomes much more fluid and you can decant them all into one bottle through a funnel and use it up that way. It helps that it is all the same colour/smell, but even so you can mix different brands and it all works out OK
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

maryb - that's a good tip - I just up-end the old bottle over the new one but it doesn't all come out and I resort to diluting it with water and use it for the next shower/shampoo. Heating to make it runnier is much cleverer.

    Hi Kidkat: please take care.

I have done some Christmas shopping but still have loads to do. Used an Amazon voucher I got from surveys for one present. Tesco double up for some toys. Going to have a look at the clothes and see If I can get some more when I get chance. I don't want to be caught out though with a voucher too many like I did with the toys and have to find something to spend it on so must keep my wits about me. It's hardly rocket science I know but I got so confused. I have lots of coins ready to take to the bank for changing that I have been saving all year that will pay for some presses too.

That is exactly what i do - upend and then dilute!

    Kidcat, look after yourself.

D&DD, I hope the appointments for your children go ok and Rosie's ok.

GQ, I do love your posts. You certainly have a way with words. :)

Well, I've not long got back from Tescos, so nuked junk food for tea it is.
However, I did manage to get some bargains. I couldn't find the Pilgrims Choice B1G2F offer on the website, so thought my store wasn't doing it, so I was very pleased to see that they were (last day on offer too) and picked up 6 packs. We go through so much cheese in this household!
I also bought the Dolmio Lasagne kit that comes with a free lasagne dish. I don't normally buy the sauces, but £3.99 for the two sauces plus a decent stoneware dish couldn't be ignored. :D

The bill came to £70ish, then the multi-buy savers came off knocking it down to £50 and I used a £25 clubcard voucher.

I had been planning on using my vouchers on the double up promotion, hoping that things like laptops would be included as my lappy is on its last legs. We don't need to buy clothes or toys or any of the other things in the promo and I've never found anything in the deals brochures that I want either, so I'll be using them on the grocery shopping. (Still got another £59 in vouchers to use, so they'll prolly be used in the Xmas food shop.)

Oh yes, and we had to buy eggs for the first time in nearly 2 years! Our girls are taking a break from laying, including the warrens that we bought a few weeks ago who started laying and then stopped around about bonfire night. <rolls eyes> Hubby is really noticing the effects of not having eggs for breakfast and is getting hungry around about 11ish so he starts eating his lunch. Not good!

I'm waiting for dinner to cook at the moment and the smell of roast chicken is making my stomach growl. Dinner is pork, sage and onion stuffed roast chicken (brought YS'ed), roast potatoes and parsnips, carrots and cauliflower, with lashings of gravy and maybe some extra sage and onion stuffing. That depends on if I want to get close to DH later as it has an unfortunate effect on his digestive system.

Oh, that reminds me. One xmas it was just hubby and myself at home. I don't eat meat, so hubby decided to give Guinea Fowl a try.

O.M.G! I had nut roast, parsnips, sprouts, all supposed to give bad wind, but I was fine.
Hubby on the other hand has now been banned from eating guinea fowl as the effects lasted 2 DAYS and boy, was he foul to be near!

Has your Tesc* got a deli counter? Go and see if they have Davidstow Cheese on it - it's currently on offer for 47p per 100g. Nom Nom.

I often find the deli cheeses that are reduced are the cheapest.

They've also go the turkey ham and stuffing pie on offer again. We had that for tea last night with some HM pickle and stuff - if you buy a whole one they come out about £4something. Now they are being packed in the box in halves, some of the staff sell you a half as a 'whole' IYKWIM? Bargain!

Yes it has, I'll have a look when I'm in there next.

Made hubby scrambled eggs with the eggs we bought. Even though they're free range eggs, they're not a patch on our girls eggs. They were really pale and anaemic looking. I hope our girls don't take too long off laying!

Thanks for the sympathy re the shoes - and sorries that quite a few of you have the same problems :(

The shoes are bought GQ - 3 prs brand new with stickers but from local cs - v cheap and one pr hotter, one pr ecco and all well made. I break them in then wear them to death when I should really break them in as I get them and have more choice from day to day.

Walking boots are already done - need 2 prs socks and have put in heel grips and they are very comfy. So tomorrow it's onto the first pair of shoes with v thin socks and plasters in my bag. Off for a blood test and a quick whizz round S/bugs so max wear time about 2 hrs

Gosh! You'd think I'd have something better to talk about :rotfl:

I suspect people like me may be responsible for the strict rules re T's toiletries and vouchers - about a year ago I doubled the voucher value then spent them all on BOGOF Radox shower gels. I've still got a stash now and love the fact that they cost nothing (my vouchers came from heavy petrol purchases at the time and pump prices were competitive anyway).
:)Oh, I remember now that you posted about that at the time and I was consumed with envy!

It's very rare for me to find shoes in the c.s as I'm a Bigfoot but Mum really lucked-out on Sunday when we were shopping together at a bootsale. We spotted a pair of Ecco shoes but they were her size not mine (sob!) for £10 and completely unused. Mum was very pleased and I was a little bit green.:p

I currently have a pair of Ecco and a pair of Think! shoes on the go, alternating them as my work shoes. I like Hotter shoes too. A pal who is slightly older insists that as soon as you reach 50 you get sent the Hotter catalogue as a matter of course, even if you've never had dealings with them in your life.

:D I'm a few years shy of that so I shall have to wait and see.:D

I have a deep and abiding loathing of shoe-shopping based on the fact of having long thin feet with long skinny toes which just won't go into anything pointed. And the arthritic knees squeal if subjected to heels.....grrrr, I'm happiest pottering around at home barefoot.

Seems to me that for every decade you have on your personal clock, you need to spend a wee bit more on your footwear, but do the employers co-operate? Do they heck.

Shegar, I've been doing Crimble shopping since January and it's mostly done but I need to reconcile the lists with the cupboarded items and make sure I haven't left anyone out. Lots of family birthdays fall in the same period as Xmas, so I have had to have this habit of spreading the costs since I was old enough to shop for gifts. SuperGran has a family which seem to have a distinct breeding season as all her relations' birthdays fall within 6 weeks of each other in late spring, so she's constantly on the lookout for gifts. SG speaks highly of Marks & Spencer for childrens' gifts reduced to silly money at various times of the year.

It was SG who told me about M & S having a whoopsie time last year which hadn't occured to me and I ventured in once but was so traumatised by the melee of posh old women fighting like seagulls over a fish supper that I never had the stomach to return to the fray.

I should add that I am the best part of six feet tall, constructed like an outdoor sanitation facility and not of a nervous disposition, but there are limits and the M & S ladies were dangerous.

OK, that's enough nonsense. I am going to treat myself to a bacon butty.:p I buy bacon only a few times a year as I consider it to be overpriced but today I shall have a wee treat. Only downer is that there is no ketchup on the premises but you can't have everything in this world.

;) Well, I could try, but I'd have to chuck out some tinned tomatoes to make room for it, and that is out of the question.;)

Hope everyone will have a good day and that poorly peeps will be on the mend.
