I remember when only MSE'ers knew about this sale, (and MSE was quieter) and I could toodle down to my 'local' Sainsbugs (nearest one is 25-30mins drive away) at any point during the first day and pick up what I wanted. There would only be about 2 or 3 others perusing the aisle and all was very polite and civilised, and they still had loads left the following day too. Ah, happy memories!

Snap, I remember when I just rolled up at 10am 4 years ago and got my son every power ranger toy he could ever imagine he wanted half price, and my daughter loads of great toys too. Spent about £150 and did all my xmas shopping on one day!!

Nobody was aware of it and I had the aisle to myself. Last year however was crazy and not pleasant. People were just grabbing things and not being very nice!!

One thing that always makes me smile is that you don't see many men there, we should send them to fight for the toys we want really shouldn't we? My hubby is going into work late so he can stay with the kids, when really he could be going for me ;)
A small Thank You can make a BIG difference ;)
  • There was only me and 1 other lady last year,it was bliss!
I can't get down tomorrow as i have an appointment in solihull at 9.00 so i will have to go at about 2pm[sad] hope there are some things i want left.
What is sainsburys in solihull like? does it have a good toy dept?

Yes that and stealing out of somebody else's trolley tomorrow.

People would really put items they want elsewhere in the store?? Quite sad really. :(

Well some people have commitments first thing in the morning. In order to get 2 or 3 items in front of the dam right greedy and ebayers I see nothing wrong with it. I would certainly not steal out of anyone's basket though!
  • I hope they don't advertise it in papers or on tv today!!!! Selfish I know, but its the one sale I really look forward to and really want a productive morning!! ;)

Haha i was thinking that too! My Sainsburys is usually quiet first thing....i haven't told anyone either, will wait till i've been!

I'm sure the store manager would be very forgiving that you had made a mess of his store if you explained you had other commitments. :o

To me, this is just greedy.
  • So what do we think are going to be the hot things to get this year? Last year it was the £50 Buzz Lightyears and then the ubiquitous Lego and sylvanians.

Surely the night time shelf stackers would move wrongly placed [STRIKE]hidden[/STRIKE] goods back to the correct place?

I am just wondering how busy it will be tomorrow now, will it be like next sales queuing - miles back, also cannot stand pushing and shoving I have visions in my mind when you see the Americans with there big sales and all run for the shelves, people flying staff crushed etc.

Will be mega peed off if I get to what I want and someone scoops the lot into their trolley - its just not fair, it should be limited amounts although pretty hard to install the rule.

I totally agree "commitments" or not it's hardly like buying half price lego is essential to life really is it? Personally I wouldn't want to upset the karma fairy or actually stoop to the lows that the ebay profiteers do either.

to be honest i'm a little anxious about going as i am pregnant and scared i will be pushed and shoved etc, i'm only 21 weeks so baby is still well protected, it's awful to think people can't act civilized :(
