  • I was! but I got over it and I haven't had any problems with anything else, only fine jewellery. I still think ebay is a good selling place and I still enjoy it.

OP I think I found your ring and am even more sure you should be looking to sell a few cheap things before you venture anywhere near selling high end goods again.

I suspected from your posts that this wasn't even an ebay sale as of course something can't sell after the listing has finished- that alone should have made you just walk away entirely from this. However it does mean that you are not in a situation with fees- the sale did not complete on ebay therefore there are no fees to be paid.

The CS you spoke to was another one of the 'I haven't a clue but will tell you anything you want to hear to get you off the phone'.

To double check I have the correct ring (and don't link to it here) go to your items sold page and see if it is there, if it isn't then it has not been sold and you can just forget all this and move on.

I think your pricing might also be a little optimistic and I think for an item that pricey you might do better to have more than one line of description. Also, what have you got against the Isle of Wight? (I never even knew you can block buyers from there)

Anyway, it is good news if this wasn't an ebay sale as you have escaped from any real issues. Just take a look round your house now and find some odds and ends to sell, maybe list a few 99p items (listing is free for private sellers at 99p) and get some selling feedback and you might then do better at a relist in a few weeks. If you don't want to wait that long then try a bricks and mortar auction house, you won't get anywhere near that price for it, but they will take the risks for you.

Incidentally, at least you got your postage correct- special delivery. I was absolutely shocked to see how many people are selling high end rings with basic first class or 1st class recorded - no wonder we get so many threads on here with sellers have issues. Some of those sellers are not even newbies and ought to know better.

Soolin, you found the wrong ring, OP's did sell through ebay & is being posted economy delivery collect+.
OP do make sure that if you sell again you have enough insurance to cover the cost, RM special delivery may be the best option for something of that value.

Oh dear, I had rather hoped I had the right one as it would have made life a lot simpler if this had been off ebay and just a straight forward scam.

Actually i found the man i spoke to on ebay helpful, explained alot of things that was said on here and told me what the buyer was likely to do next to get me to send the ring. Which buyer has done, just sent me an email saying i have to post the ring and provide paypal with a tracking number. Its taking all my strength not to email back telling him to f off! Soolin yes you have the wrong ring. I had the ring valued and i have nothing against the isle of wight i live on an island myself!! I may be new to selling on ebay but i do have some common sense!

Buyer keeps on mailing my personal email account, demanding i post the ring and provide tracking number to paypal to release funds. I guess he got my email from my paypal. Getting on my nerves now! What should i do reply or ignore? Should i block his emails?
  • Ignore him and block his emails.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare
  • To the OP, it is obviously dodgy.

To the posters that mentioned the 419 scam, this is not actually a 419 case. 419 refers to 'advanced fee fraud' so the scam is to get money out of potential targets before hand with the promise of more substantial treasures. Sorry to be pedantic but just wanted to point it out especially if you want to mention this to a potential scammer in the future.

I would tell him that you won't send something until it's been paid for, & no payment is showing in your paypal.
After 4 days open a NPB case.
