Town and City Parking ticket

Hello all - I just thought it might be reassuring and encouraging if I popped back to say that 8 months later, the letters have stopped and I haven't paid a cent. Thanks to everyone who posted!
Thanks for coming back with the update - I'm sure that newbies will be very reassured by this and see that there is absolutely nothing to fear from these scammers in particular & so many of the others out there just like them.
BTW - I have since enjoyed my couple of pints & very nice they were too. (see post #11 of this thread) :beer:0 -
Ha, glad to hear it Hadeon!0

I have had a similar experience with NCP and Newlyn. I was advised on this forum and others to ignore all the legalish letters and multiple phone calls. I told them I was the RK but not the driver and refused to name the driver, which I am legally allowed to do despite what they said!
Finally after 2 years and maybe 20 letters (including bailiff and credit rating threats) they *appear* to have gone away. I can understand why those of a nervous disposition might cave in and pay but don't do it!
These people are leeches. I told NCP I would reimburse them for the parking fees for the second space upon which they claimed I was infringing. In a free supermarket car park, they cannot claim ANYTHING back from you. If you have to pay for parking and then you over-ran your time, all they can claim is the cost of the parking you didn't pay for - nothing more!
Hang tough, please do not give in to these very bad people.0 -

Thanks for the update :T:T
Updates hopefully give newbies reassurance that they can be ignored, though after 20 letters I would sue them for harassment, if you still have all the letters I would be tempted to see a solicitor for a free half hour consultation. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -

Take the ticket with you next time and tear it into little pieces under his nose! Even better, "forget" to show your Blue Badge again and tear two tickets into little pieces under his nose!
Be aware that you will get a series of increasingly nasty letters from people impersonating authority. Ignore them all and they will go away.Je suis Charlie.0 -
no you dont need to pay this, the blue badge scheme doesnt aply on private land/car aprks, although it can be used to show you have proof that you are disabled, also bear in mind that not everyone who is disabled and has a need for the space has a blue badge.
As for your ticket, if you want to fight this and in my opinion you should , on behalf of all other disabled drivers you should do the following ( if you dont want to fight then ignore all furthur comunication)
1: Scan/copy your disabled badge and send it to TCP parking, when they send you a demand in the post, state on this letter that you will not be paying them because:
You are a disabled within the terms of the Equalities act, and that had every right to use that bay.
Their parking attendant was rude when you challenged him/her
£60 is an extorianate amount for parking in what is a free car park..
Do not use the words appeal, or spologise for forgetting to show your badge
then wait for a reply, if they do the right thing then you should get a letter saying the ticket has been cancelled.
If the reply is Appeal rejected send another reply, this time remind them of the equalities act, and that you also hold that particular Sainsburys store to be in breach of the Equalities act, and that if you recieve any further demands from TCP you may consider action against them(TCP and that particular Sainsburys store) for a breach of the equalities act, as well as harrasment.
also Send a letter to that sainsburys store saying that they, as a result of the actions of their agents are in breach of the equalities act, and are also harrasing you with demands for mony.
Wait, again if they are doing the right thing they should apologise for their error, but thats unlikly.
If nhothing is heard and the threat letters continue... tell sainsburys again, and maybe pp in and talk to the customer services people, armed with all the threat letters, if they are unsympathetic, and wont budge remind them that they are responsable for the actions of their agents, and unless they stop this now, you are minded to issue court proceedings against Sainsburys. From the Plain Language Commission:

Well if you're going to war with Sainsburys (and you certainly should) don't ponce about with the store, go straight to the top:
