What did you read?

My DD who is now 8 is turning into a real keen reader, which delights me as I love reading.

I want to build a list of must reads, childhood classics if you like; so far I have my favourites from my childhood :-

Enid Blyton - Secret Seven, Malory Towers, Far Away Tree
Ann of Green Gables
Lord of the Flies
Swallow and Amazons
Ronald Dahl - All of them lol

Then my mind goes blank. What were your must reads as a child?

Thanks for your help

Love is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy,And sometimes life can be deceiving,
I'll tell you one thing, its always better when we're together

  • And, although I was a girl too, (well still am!) I adored the Jennings books and also the Just William ones.

I actually re-read What Katy Did (& at School, & Next, & Clover) recently when I found them free for Kindle!

I loved Little Women and the three sequel books.

All of the Narnia series by CS Lewis.

When thinking Enid Blyton, don't forget the St Clare series (I read them before the Malory Towers series)
