What did you read?

Enid Blyton. What an amazing author she truley was. Think I read most of her's - famous five, secret seven, faraway tree, come to the circus, mallory towers, st clares, and others. I really don't think you can beat her for childrens books, the escapism and imagination is awesome. I used to get totally swept away in the adventures she would write about.

When I was a kid, we were taught to really treasure books, and when I left home, I took all of my huge collection of childhood books with me. When I had my son, I passed them all on to him when he was of an appropriate age, and at age 19 he still to this day has them on his gigantic book shelf.

I didn't like Enid Blyton much when I was a child. I read some of the Secret Seven and Famous Five books, and found them repetitive and sexist. I didn't put it quite like that, but I did tell my mother that the girls did all the boring things (-:
