Have liberally applied white vinegar to shower room floor as splat 1 stunk the place out by using the shower floor rather than the clean tray 3 foot away - again.

Is splat one demanding a separate litter tray, I wonder?

Dustykitten We're starting with a very small kitchen, which is good in terms of keeping costs down at least! We're getting new oven, hob and hood put in which should make a big difference and we can replace the vinyl for less than £100. The biggest problem is the kitchen cabinets which are at awkward angles and a horrible blue colour, with the handles falling off! We can't really afford to do more than a patch up job and we don't particularly want to spend a lot either as the minute we can afford to we will be buying a bigger place. That could be a few years away though so we want it nice in the meantime.

Musogirl, can the cupboards be sanded/painted/stained? Not ideal I know, but in the short term if it gets rid of the horrible blue it might be worth it? You could pick up some new handles, or repair whats currently there if you like them? Or if you have a local merchant/clearance place, you might be able to pick up cupboard doors at a snip....

At least then it would look very different, but without spending a great deal of money?

Ok - i got distracted by another thread - am off to do something useful!! Like pack and clean!!!! :D

Ok, done well so far, most of it due to the tesco shop coming and not wanting to be embarrassed by the state of the kitchen!!! I too had to find the worktops under all the crockery piled up to be washed.

    So far I have
    Stripped bed and washed sheets
    hung sheets on line
unloaded and reloaded dishwasher and put on
    put rubbish and recycling out
    emptied fridge
    cleaned hob!
    cleaned worktops
    cleaned sink out, yuk
    swept floor
    tidied living room
    took clean washing upstairs
    sorting through post

does anyone else find that when tidying one room, other rooms end up getting somewhat messier, with the stuff that you put in there moving from one room to another?

Still have bits to do am a bit sleepy now though, will get on in a bit though.
  • Haven't been on here in a looooong time, feel the need to get organised this week though so here I am :)

So far today i've been and done the weekly shop and put away, done a load of washing and hung out, cleaned the kitchen surfaces and tidied away 'stuff', DW loaded and now on.

    To do today:
    Put away laundry
    Empty dishwasher
    Tidy lounge
    Clean fireplace
    Hoover downstairs
    Tidy ds room
    Clean bathrooms
    Swap bedroom curtains over.

    On that note.........
    :j Mortgage Free!! )
Generally trying to cut back where possible :j
