My friend has got one, and has asked me to help her - I've never used one!! The set up looks easy, but is it just like an iPod, downloading books off the site?

Once you buy a book on Amazon, turn your Kindle on and it will download it instantly as long as the wifi/3G is on. I can use it, therefore it's muppet-proof0 -
That'll be perfect for her too then :rotfl:
I love her dearly, but she does not do technology at all!!

Hi F_F, sorry to hear about the job front - I don't know first hand what its like to be at risk of redundancy (as mine was unpredicted) but of all the people from my previous employers who walked (around 25 which doesnt sound many but there were only about 200 in the first place) there is only one person that isnt working (& thats medical more than anything else) and every one of them would say that redundancy was the best thing that ever happened. Some have stayed in the same field, others have taken the opportunity to start over.
If you do walk of joy, enjoy the break, your money savvy ways will help you s-t-r-e-t-c-h your payout until you can decide what you want to do
& the people on here will keep you sane in the darker moments - that one I do know from experience!
Good luck!I do not make mistakes, I learn lessons.I work to live, not live to work.I love to live & live to love.Good enough is exactly that.0 -
I do have a teeeennnnyyyy weeeennnnnyyy gripe about the Kindle
(and I love mine so .....) - although it says you're xx% through a book, there's no way to actually know how much you've read / got to go (like being able to visualise how far through the book you are) - very frustrating sometimes when you're trying to figure out if you can manage to finish the book off that night or have to leave it until the morning ..... as was the case when I was trying to finish one last night .... still going at 2am:rotfl:

Oh 'eck - just catching up - haven't been on here for ages.
Sorry about the job, but as you point out you are far more equipped than most others to deal with it.
There are LOADS of jobs out there, honest. Anyway, stay put and take your redundancy money. Don't do what I did and jump ship and end up regretting it.

Morning all and hurrah for holidays :j
The weekend has mainly been spent relaxing and doing very little - I spent a good portion of last night colouring so I think I've finally found my crafty mojo again - I just need to make the cards now!
I'm still earning vouchers with SB - redeemed one on the first and should have enough points to redeem another one tonightI've bought a book for my Kindle (Bad Fresian!) but still have £11 in my Amazon account. Once I've got £20 I'm going to start organising myself for Christmas - I need to go through the Christmas cupboard in the spare room and figure out what I have and who it's for.
As the weather is nice today I'm about to get myself up and dressed (woo for holidays, still sitting in my dressing gown with coffee!) and wander in to the town to grab a programme for the Edinburgh Fringe and see if I can find a pair of cheap shoes for a wedding I'm going to. I did get some from Next but wore them in the house for ten minutes and realised they were too high for me!
Hope everyone else is enjoying the bank holiday0 -
Well I went into town but didn't end up remembering to get a Fringe programme or buying shoes. Instead I met some friends and wandered along the river, had lots of tea and went to two art galleries
Tomorrow I'm going to the Museum of Scotland with Mr F as well - interesting and FREE :money:
I've sold quite a few bits of craft gubbins on FB this weekend (and used the money to buy more crafts, but never mind...) so have to package that up just now and take to the post office before I go and meet Souk for lunch. I suspect that drunken shopping will follow that0 -
sounds wonderful0
