Gro-bags generally contain sedge peat, this is darker and tends to have less structure. Does a very good job of holding water but has little in the way of structure. If you are buying this to dig into beds then fine anything is better than nothing, if however you are looking at using it in tubs containers or hanging baskets then your results will be poor.

There is an old saying spend a £1 on the whole and a penny on the plant and you won’t go wrong.

In that case why do hundreds if not thousands of people successfully grow tomato plants etc in them?

Ive split a bag open and had a look and it looks identical to the bag of compost Ive got both in terms of colour texture even smell so Im  as to what the difference is between the two

They are indeed but as soon as they put it out around here its gone :D

The whole company is having the same issue. Last year was the same. The supplier knew they would be having the offer on, but they still couldn't meet demand.

I need to go and get myself some compost tomorrow to plant up my potato seeds which is well overdue. I usually buy my compost from places when it is 3 for £10.00. I thought I read on hear that Focus (?) were doing 4 bags for £10.00. Did I read right and is it worth getting it from there?

Just remembered this morning about my free compost. Trying to log onto the website to find where I can redeem it but it doesn't seem to say it anywhere (not that I can find anyway). Did someone mention it can be redeemed in Wilkinsons?

Don't worry, have to go out now. Will try and see if they take it in Wilkinsons.

If the focus price is 4bags (120 litre) go down to your local nursery most have 75 litre bags for £4.50, this works out at £9.00 for 150 litre, much cheaper and helps to keep the small businesses running. Whilst you are there look at their plants, most don't do loss leaders like the sheds but are usually better quality and value.
