JayJay, my DH and I have always said when it is our time, we want a great big party after the ceremony. We want people to celebrate our lives, to talk about us with fond memories, etc, not to be sad.

    Love your Aunt's request.

Also thinking of Nick and Mandylou. Squidy hugs to you both too. xxxx

3dogs~Great idea to have a humanist funeral.
They have such a lovely feel about them.
Will be thinking of you & will be there in spirit.
Would you maybe be able to keep me an order of service?
Will phone you when my hearing gets a wee bit better.

The Humamist lady has just gone except she isn't so much a Humanist as an Independent Funeral Celebrant, so in effect you can have totally humanist or a mix of religious feeling and humanist if you get my drift. So, I am having Alan's favourite song of all time Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynyrd as people arrive, the lady giving details of Alan's life, our friend Jenny speaking about him with car boot stories ets, followed by the Lord's Prayer and time for reflection with Spirit in the Sky - Norman Greenbaum playing, and will have the Blaydon Races playing as we all leave to give a lovely fun mood as we go out

I will keep an order of service for you Beanie, and you too Aesop if you want one

I am off now to the Funeral Director's to take in Alan's clothes, his Sunderland shirt & pants, and I am going to take one of his hats in to go with him as he'd be lost wwithout one to wear ;) Just going to pick one out now

Before I go, just a word or two for MandyLou as she tells me that her Nick's liver is now failing fast and he has little time left. I feel so helpless so now knoww howw all you lot feel :( I wish I could be there for you Mandy. I have pm'd you my phone number, please call me if you need to rant or dry or laugh or anything else - we both know what it feels like to have this horrible disease hit our loved ones. Lots of love hun :A

Evening guys. I've had such a busy day today and feel like I've got so much done :j

After speaking to the Humanist lady this morning, I took Alan's clothes in to the Funeral director's along with his top hat with animals for the top of the coffin, and ordered another limo as I realised we needed one with my family and Alan's. Then I went into town and had a good look around, getting some new clothes, partly from charity shops :money: and called into the hairdressers to see if I could get my hair done, but they had to do a patch test as I haven't had my hair dyed there before. Going back on Wednesday to get hair dyed and cut. I then popped into the auction to see the porters there. They can't all have time off, so the one who's known us longest and was closest to Alan is having the day off and coming to Crem with his wife :D Called into the car boot cafe on way home and had a cuppa, sarnie and read of the newspaper as we used to do :D

Called round to see Linda wwas ok when I got back and then started on the phone calls. Notified life insurance company of Alan's death and they confirmed what I had to send in and where to. Then I rang Motability and they were wonderful :D I can keep the car until 31st July and they will do a pro rata refund of the advance payment we made. Plus they will calculate a price for me to see if I want to keep the car, but if I decide against it, then they will collect the car on 31st

Decided to keep going as the calls were going well, so rang to notify DLA people of Alan's death and they dealth with everything. DLA claim noted and ceased, as was my underlying entitlement to Carers allowance, plus she processed my claim for help with funeral costs, bereavement allowance and bereavement benefit, so I won't have to go into the local office at all, all done with this one call :j

Feeling good after achieving so much today, I moved things around a bit in the sitting room where to tv is, meaning I now have one spare cabinet which houses the desktop PC for use with our TV but I've pushed it into the bedroom for now - luckily it is on wheels ;) Moved the dogs' bed into the bedroom too for now, to make a little more space. Got a few more things to take to tip and charity shop so put them to one side for now. Slowly getting nearer to that minimalist look I am hoping to achieve .... still a long way to go though :rotfl: :rotfl:

Along with my cereal and fruit breakfast and bacon/egg sarnie today, I had a whoopsied Tosco Malaysian Coconut Beef dish tonight ................... so I am eating ok ;);)

Right, got to get that life insurance paperwork to put together with a covering letter so I can post that tomorrow to set the ball rolling, so doing that and may pop back later
