Morning guys. OK, so I have reloaded the freezer, fed the dogs, we've had our breakfast and Alan has gone back to bed. I have to nip into town for some dog food ready to take doggies into kennels as I forgot to get it yesterday. We take their own food in with them so their diet doesn't change when they are in 'jail'. Then I have to get them into the kennels, and pack
It looks like a nice day out there so hope it stays like that though my brother said it is wet up Newcastle right nowMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

It was dry all the way up - but it is very cold up here   I think I forgot how much colder it is, but then again I didn't think of that, with it being [STRIKE]November[/STRIKE] May
By the time I packed, and we got the car loaded, then popped to surgery to pick up Alan's tablets they didn't have yesterday, we got away about 12.45pm. Traffic was quite bad for first half of the journey but cleared later and we did the trip in 4 hours 15 mins, with just one 15 minute stop for toilet, coffee urgh horrible and bacon sarnie cold and tasteless. Alan drove all the way but his arms were aching and he was shattered when we got up here. We had to go to my niece's to pick up the keys and the 2 girls came round with us to allow niece to finish packing. Alan went straight up to bed and I kept the girls occupied till niece came for them about 7.30pm. I sent them home with lots of Tossco goodies :j
Alan came downstairs to have something to eat but had to go straight back up after an hour. I have unpacked now and changed into my pj's and dressing gown. My niece and the girls will pop around in the morning as she is going to hairdressers round the corner. My brother is visiting Mam at lunch time tomorrow and then calling in to see us afterwards, then I will go down to see Mam at tea time :j :j
I am just unwinding now, catching up on here, listening to radioMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

Okey Dokey hun   Wasn't there something about her going to France, with a friend or to see a friend?, or was that a while ago ........ I regret to say I can't remember
We have rested a lot today, especially Alan. I got up for half an hour when Niece's OH came round with the girls at 11am but then went back to bed. We slept till 12.30pm and only got up then coz my brother was calling here about 1.30pmWhen he came, he updated us on Mam doing ok some shouting but still eating well, talks about the world she is in at times but back with us at others and then we chatted until I drove him home at 3.30pm. Alan went back to bed then and I went down to see Mam for 4.30pm
Mam was talking to her white bear when I got to her room. I asked her is she knew who I was and she said no. I said it's Susan and she shook her head in confusion and said no. We talked for a while and she was happy enough. They brought her dinner, which was soup and sandwiches, and she ate theat no bother. They'd had a SALT meeting last week and decided that she could now have moist sandwiches with crusts cut off, and proper veg if it was soft instead of having it pureed, but couldn't have ice cream or cream as it stuck in her throat. I don't know where that came from as ice cream is her favourite and slides down her throat lovely
By now she was talking about 'my Dad' so I assumed she knew who I was by then. She asked me if 'my man' was at work but I told her he was at home in bed all day as he wasn't well. She kept asking me is 'my man' was at work, or worked on Sundays but I said no. I made us both a cup of tea and sang her my usual 'I like a nice cup of tea in the morning' as we drank them which she remembered
When I left I gave her my normal 4 kisses which we count out one by one, and said I had to go feed Alan but would be back tomorrow and she said 'Eeee, thank you ever so much for coming, it was lovely to see you'
I got back about 7pm and Alan had just got up, so we watched the cricket highlights and now are watching the Champions League Final. Just had a frozen pizza for dinner - cooked of course
Alan is feeling much better now and wants to get out and about tomorrow, but I had told my brother that I would do the lunch and dinner visiting tomorrow to see Mam and give him a break. So Alan is going to drop me at the home at 12noon and go down to see his DadMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

Alan got up about 9am, had his breakfast but was back in bed by 10am. I got up at 11am and had my breakfast then went to Mam. Alan was too tired to go out anywhere so stayed in bed until I got back. Mam was worn out today and seemed very weak, though she is normally quieter in the mornings anyway. The lovely carer Babs said she'd had to feed Mam her porridge this morning and that she wasn't quite herself today
I fed mam her pureed roast beef dinner and rice pudding but she struggled a bit with the pud, which Babs agreed was not like her at all. After I gave her the liquid paracetamol and she'd had her nebuliser on, I left her to sleep. She knew I was going and joined in with 'counting the kisses' and said she'd see me later, but I am sure she'd sleep very soon after I left
When I got back, I woke Alan up and we've had coffee and cake. He is currently reading the papers but is going back to bed when I go out again, as he is very very tiredwe are hoping that he can get out tomorrow. I think the priority is for him to see his Dad, so we will aim for that first before we get out and about anywhere else
He fancies chinese takeaway and there is one round the corner from my sister's house, so I will get that on the way home from seeing Mam, if it is open then, or walk round later for it if necessaryMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

We had our chinese takeaway tonight - didn't enjoy mine but Alan loved his which is the main thing :j Thing is, as soon as he eats, he gets really tired again, so having got up just before 7pm when I got home, he was in bed again at 8.15pmOff to bed now though so will wish you all a goodnight - sleep well

We have had a lovely day today :j Even before we went out, we sat reminiscing about when we lives up here. We went out about 11am and drove down to North Shields. I showed Alan the home Mam was in and then we went along the Quay Side. The building he used to work at in the 1970's was gone and fancy waterside apartments had taken it's place. The area had changed, but it was good to see the quayside was alive, with new cafes and bars to serve all the new posh apartments, but the fishing industry was still there
We then went and parked in Tynemouth Front Street, where we used to go drinking and, in fact, met :j. I used to go dowwn their drinking with a regular group of lasses and he used to go with a regular group of lads. We went into his regular pub, who he used to play darts for and at which we had won mixed darts trophies. It had changed slightly but still felt good to be there. We only had a coffee but had a lovely chat with the barmaid who had worked in the many Front Sreet bars for a long time
We then drove along the sea front, stopping to have a walk around Tynemouth Long Sands front and the boating lake. Moving on, we drove through Cullercoats, and Whitley Bay which had changed immensely, but the dome of the Spanish City had been preserved and maintained the look of the old town. We then went along to St Mary's Island, and then into Whitley Bay town centre. Alan was hoping that he could still get a 'Belvedere Pie' which was a pork pie 'injected' into the top with brown sauce   The Belvedere Art Deco corner building was still there, but, alas, no pie shopThere was a butcher's shop and we got two normal pork pies and ate them outside on some benches. They were nice, but not a patch on Belvedere Pies according to Mr 3Dogs
We drove home then as Alan was shattered and he went to bed as soon as we got back at 3pm, getting up only for an hour at 7pm to watch cricket hightlights well done England :j, have a bacon sarnie, and is now sound asleep. But it was lovely wandering round, chatting about where he used to work, and where we used to go, especially Front Street as it held such special memories
So a very good day, and Mam was good tonight too. She was chatting and ate soup and a large dinner, then a cake I'd taken in for her thank you Tosco and Price flop, and finished off with tea and biccies. She was bright and smiling when I left, though she had been asking how she was going to get home  I just told her she was better off staying where she was and make everyone else come to see her
