Thanks for the ideas for keeping Molly settled in her crate guys :T :T I am going to hunt out an old sweater or something:T for in her crate but I had some success last night. When I went to bed, she was starting to cry straight away, so I sat on bottom of the bed and rapped the nurse's folder on top of the crate and she jumped about, so I did it again and she just sat looking at me. I moved round the corner of the bed after a minute and sat there, not looking at her, and after a minute got slowly into bed and she settled straight down - no noise :j :j I did get up during the night as I could tell that Bess was getting a bit restless and I wanted to get up before Molly got excited by Bess moving about. I went to the bathroom and then let Molly out of her crate and they both went into the garden and had a wee, so I put Molly back into her crate, Bess got back on the bed, and we all settled down again. Molly did winge quietly about three times during the rest of the night, but I just tapped something on my bedside cabinet and she stopped. The main difference is that she is not yapping loudly and out of control, she is just crying quietly and then stopping when I make a sharp noise, so I am happier with that now. That is if she continues like this ;)

I took Bess to the vets this morning for a check up and bloods/urine tests and got some drops for her itchy ear, and dropped Alan at the auction which is just round the corner when I was in there. He was outside to meet me when I came out and we came straight home as we hadn't been able to find the back gate and oil boiler refill keys before we'd gone out and I have a delivery of heating oil coming either today or tomorrow so they wouldn't have been able to get in to do it. When we got home, I found the keys straight away   so we unlocked the gate, etc for the delivery and went down to the car boot cafe for a bacon sarnie and read of the papers. Mind you, the oil tanker hasn't been so they will be coming tomorrow now

I have been doing some more decluttering while Alan had a nap, until the nurse came about 4pm. Just watching IPL cricket on telly now

Evening guys - hope you're all well :D

Our day started with being woken up by heating oil delivery at 6.51am   I went back to bed after he'd delivered the oil, and then woke up at 9am by loud banging on the door again - this time delivery of lovely 4-wheel walker with basket and seat for Alan which he says will be great for him :j :j When Occupational Therapist came last week and sorted the crutches out for him, he'd mentioned that he was looking out for a seated walker at the auction and she said to hold off from buying one as she might be able to get him one. I knew a delivery was coming today, but throught it was a trolley for him to use indoors, so was pleasantly surprised that it was the walker. Very pleased :j :j

We got up then and had our breakfast and I made a few phone calls from my list. One of these was to ring our Housing Association. With everything going on, I hadn't been keeping an eye on how much heating oil we had left. We have a meter/monitor which plugs in indoors and it tells you how much oil is left in the tank, but, not having enough sockets, I tend to not keep it plugged in. I had checked it the other week and the display was just not settling down and then went off  Heating was still working so forgot about it, till the heating went off on Good Friday, as we had run out of oil :o:o when this happens, you need an engineer to reset the system as it gets air in the pipe

I ordered oil on Saturday morning and they said they could deliver on Wednesday or Friday. So, once it was delivered I then needed the system reset, so rang them this morning and explained what had happened and about Alan's condition, so they said they would try to get someone out to reset it as soon as possible. The guy came at 1pm and reset the system very easily but the smell was awful from the boiler, which is in a brick built shed/outhouse. He said it was leaking fumes and I could clearly see it coming out. He said we were lucky that it was outside or we would have been gonners   Luckily, after 2 hours work, he managed to fix it, saying that, if he'd not had the parts with him and been able to weld one section, he would have had to close the system off as dangerous  It was actually leaking in two quite separate parts of the boiler and he was astonished when I told him the system was only fitted 3 years ago and had been last serviced in December 2011

Anyway, a week of just using a small fan heater, we are loving having heating on again, especially as Alan feels the cold much more now. The guy also fitted a new Watchman device so I must try to keep that plugged in somewhere and keep an eye on it, though he has set it to sound an alarm if the tank is getting low so that's good :D

By the time he left, it was too late for us to go down to the car boot cafe as we'd planned so we just nipped to the docs to pick up a prescription for Linda, then Aldi for a good look round and some normal shopping, and also popped into Asda to return a throw I bought last week and get some shopping for Linda. We did manage to get some whoopsied cakes from Asda so Alan was happy with that ;)

Alan went to bed about an hour ago. He was very tired, even though he'd been in bed all the time the workman was here. He is however looking forward to trying out his walker tomorrow at the car boot :D

We've had sunny intervals today, lots of cloud about but no rain which was good as I managed to get a big bedspread washed and then dried outside so it just needs aired off. Really pleased with that as I was thinking that I might have to take it to the laundrette :(

You need not be starving Beanie .... not ever. There are loads of free foods you could have. Yoghurt, fruit, eggs, make some veg soup for when you are hungry, mug shots are good, sugar free jelly made with mullerlights are very low. Oh, and don;t be afraid to use those syns, at least 5 a day up to 15

I am lazy, all I do is fry-light spray a tray, cut up chips or wedgies, spinkle with herbs or spices or just salt/pepper, spray again, then pop in oven till golden. Most people par boil the chips first and shake them about to roughen up the surfaces
