Hun, there is loads to take in.
We are not expecting you to do it all in one go. I am concerned that Macmillan don't cover it all, or only tell you about some.
Wait and see when they call tomorrow, what happens.
If they don't cover everything, you don't have to contact other agencies straight away. You can do it in a month's time or even longer, as you feel able to cope with it.
We think you are amazing, the way you are being so strong and positive about everything. We don't expect you to do it alone. Remember we are here if we can help with anything. Even if it is making calls or emails on your behalf
Say hi to Alan from me.
Hugs to you both. xxx
Thanks so much Aesop, and Beanie too, and everyone else giving advice :A :A :A Being 'Nurse Susan' and keeping Alan feeling good is making it hard for me to concentrate on other things which is why I want Macmillan to sort things out. Anyway, the lady from Macmillan rang this morning and took details saying Alan should go for Pension Credit which he will qualify for once the DLA is sorted he doesn't qualify at moment due to my pension but gets extra allowances re DLA/Carers. His DLA form should be here very soon and mine withing the week, and she has to apply for Consultant's report, so will arrange a meeting with us when this is al to hand, which will be held at North Cambs Hospital Wisbech as that is closer for us, which is good. I feel like that is being dealth with now and I can stop worrying about it. I have yet to ring Water/Electric but will do that in next couple of daysMandyLou66 wrote: »Hi 3dogs! Hope you are both doing well and enjoying the sunshine.
Nicks "special terms" DLA (high rate on both care and mobility) was sorted by the hospital, they sent a case worker round to fill in the forms with us, its like a blo*dy book so her help was appreciated!
I emailed MacMillan and then a lady named Jayne Mead (Welfare Advisor) called me back to discuss our needs and entitlements then she typed it all up and posted it to us with the names of forms to ask for and the departments to call.
Am off work for 9 days now Yay! We have Nicks cetuximab treatment at 1pm so don't like to go far once we're home, hoping the weather stays good so I can start sorting the garden!
Look after yourselves

Can I ask MandyLou, was it automatic to get the higher rate on care and mobility under special rules or does each case vary? I hope Nick's treatment goes well today and he is ok afterwards. You seem to have chosen some good weather for your time off so enjoy it hun
The District Nurse came again this morning and changed his wound dressings. I checked the wounds and they look very good :j Still having problems getting good seal around the stoma bag and drain bag as they are situated so close together that there is an overlap but I have put an extra rim seal to help this situation and just hope that the drain bag can be removed tomorrow as that will make a big difference
I haven't been out at all today and am still in my dressing gownAlan went for a nap about 1.30pm. It is actaully cooler here today, quite chilly - where has that sun gone too? I'd hope to get sheets washed and out on the line instead of relying on the tumble yet again
I had a lovely chat to Kit, Steve and Andy last night after they'd been to the pictures, and that always cheers me upMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

Well I rang Anglian Water and they have capped our water bills. They cap it at the average annual bill of £398, which we have been under, about £340 I think she said, but as I have definitely been using much more water even in the last week, with washing, toilet, etc, I am sure we would have gone over that. They are sending someone to do a test reading, followed by another after 7 days to estimate our new usage and will take it from there
One job out of the way - thanks to AesopMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

Hi 3dogs, yes it is automatic and Nicks was backdated to when the decision of palliative care was made.
You deserve a dressing gown day!
Take care!
ML'Neither a lender nor a borrower be'

Is that automatic for everyone Mandy?
