Work Experience while on Jobseekers Allowance (WORK PROGRAMME)

Seetec were happy to discriminate against me for being a carer. Did you not read my post upthread. i copied and pasted it over from my e mail account. My experience was used as part of a media campaign to raise awareness of difficulties and the discrimination that carers come across.
No I didnt, I read the post in which you quoted me.
Now read it and although I sympathise surely you can see by my example that I and others are trying to be flexible with people's situations as are JCP & employers.0 -

I am trying to point out that people are not forced to do things within the Work programme that bear no resemblance to the work the would apply for or do, given the opportunity. The employer has these shift patterns but not every employee can do every shift and as long as both parties are aware before an offer is made then arrangements can be put in place to accommodate if they are the best candidate for the job. The example was exactly that, an example, are you suggesting we treat people with kids differently? How about those who require time to pray? You are on very dodgy ground with your argument.
You mention kids and religion.
As usual disabilities and carers arent even on the radar.0 -
donnajunkie wrote: »are you saying you are breaking the rules and making people work more than the 30 hour limit? well 4 times 8 = 32.
If you re-read it, it says 8(ish).0 -

They are, as already pointed out, examples!!!!
I cant list everything I have come across as there will always be something else, but to take your example of a carer. Under the Work Programme the cost of replacement care is covered along with travel. Happy now?
Give me more examples and I will ask my contacts at JCP about it.0 -

Fair enough but my point was that there is still a long way to go before there is equality across the board.
The proof is right there. your second thought after kids was religion. Carers wouldnt even have occured to you if i hadnt brought it up.0 -

Yes, you're right, that's why rules & policies exist. Sorry I didn't think about carers. The reason I used the examples I did is that I have recent, relevant experience of them coming up. I don't have recent, relevant experience of someone who is a carer coming on one of my projects. Or if they did, it was not declared. Again, happy now?0 -
saintjammyswine wrote: »Why, that is what the working world requires, need to get people used to it. Those that cant dont have to for example those that only see their kids on a saturday are excused and we put them on a different shift.0

donnajunkie wrote: »get used to it? going to work on a saturday does not need getting used to for you to be able to do it. its the principal. if you are working for nothing they are not, they are getting experience & training for nothing and are receiving an allowance for looking for a job.they should have the decency to not expect you to work weekends.- why? the industry they have expressed an interest in working in works this way why are you volunteering this information to a company that says they can have them on saturdays. - this was negotiated between JCP, us and the employer all candidates were aware of the terms before applying to the scheme if you didnt tell them and fibbed and just said you can have them for this number of hours from monday to friday they no doubt would have accepted it.great, start fibbing just what everyone needs. i suspect making people work for their benefit on a saturday increases the liklihood of resentment towards the placement and the course no it increases the likelyhood of someone seeing what the world of work is like, many of whom do not know as they havent done it before..
Why rubbish it and talk of fibbing? Everyone involved in this project is happy with it.0 -
saintjammyswine wrote: »No they are not, they are being trained in the job & environment. The company is putting them almost on the induction programme for new employees as well as some more formal training.
Sorry, dont know how to multi quote otherwise I would have put all the answers in one post!
