I used to work in morrisons and they did still sell them up until recently at least in my store it may be a size thing with morrisons because they tend to have smaller stores, not enough room for everything.
Two Tescos near me one doesn't get my business after threatening to ban me around a year ago and the other only at 3 in the morning when I'm desperate! but they tend to never have enough fruit and veg it's always half empty regardless when you go!

I'm intrigued now, why did they try and ban you? I never knew there was a Tesco near/in Northampton (I live close to the town centre).

As my previous post implies, I now order my fruit, veg and meat/fish through Able & Cole.

Theres Tesco Mereway (next to east hunsbury) and Tesco Weston Favell. Not right in the town centre but not far out. Weston Favell tried to ban me over a refund and retain over a year ago because I was a 'persistent offender'!!! It was only something like the third time I'd ever done it!

There was an EPW on rice back then, affected most supermarkets.

EPW: Emergency Product Widthrawal... If a product is placed on the shelf after this by accident, the tills are set up to not allow the sale for your own safety.

Didnt know such a system was in place, but probably explains what happened to me at the self serve. The scanner came up with this message about a message for a member of staff and when she came it showed on screen that the product was not allowed to be sold etc etc. Cant remember what it might have been for and she couldnt understand it either and bypassed it and i brought all that i had

About 2 or 3 days ago i picked up a 250g pack of Tesco dessicated coconut for cake baking noticed it was 99p so put it back (cheaper in Nettos). When i went in today happened to look at the coconut again and it was down to 52p for the exact same bag  Its not an offer price or anything

If they have loose vine tomatoes, you can remove all trace of the vine... they seem to go through as your normal cheaper tomato :)

Good idea. Nearly as good as my one when you buy loose mushrooms break as much of the stalk off as poss ;) As you pick each one up to put it in your paper bag, a quick flick with the thumb is usually all it takes. Have to say i dont do it to every single one but those with the biggest of stems.

As a private company rather than a state run cooperative surely it is Tesco's business what products they sell and in what quantities/sizes and packaged how they like.

Tesco's business and how they run it, is Tesco's business, if you don't like it, don't go into Tesco and shop somewhere else, it's that simple.

When you present goods at their checkout you are making an offer in contract law terms, it is then up to them whether they choose to accept your offer to purchase or not. Tesco are not compelled to sell anything to you.
I'd love to go somwhere else, but in our local shopping precinct, Tescos has bought all the other shops out and moved into them in a store expansion........... The remaining shops are Labourhire, Help the Aged and Blockbuster, none of which sell tomatoes.

Sadly the lovely organic grocers further up the road also closed down. I wonder why.........?

Now there are no tomatoes in the shops other than in pack of six from everyone's favourite supermarket :p
