I have requested a full switch, and also ticked the box where I want Co-op to request a closure of my switching bank account.

When the switch goes ahead, will my funds in that account be transferred along with my direct debits and standing orders?

    Many thanks,
    Luke.
Yes, they will transfer the funds over for a full switch.

FWIW - I received a letter which describes the criteria:

"To benefit from this limited offer you must complete your switch to us, including at least 2 active direct debits or standing orders. Once we have confirmed in writing the date your account switch is complete you must pay at least £800 into your account every month for the following three months. If you do this, in the fourth month we will be happy to credit your current account with £200.

It's a bit unclear still - I could read it as the date the money needs to be there is when they send me the confirmation, not the precise date of the completion. Perhaps they can make it clearer in that letter. Oh well, it helps if you have £800 extra to keep cycling around, I suppose :o

I didn't receive any card reader yet, though the card and the pin arrived the same day. The internet bank never asked for it, although when I registered, I made it clear I don't have the card yet. I hoped though that my account number should be enough for registering...
    Enjoy the silence...

Two weeks after being approved, still no welcome pack, account number or sort code.

Same thing happened to me. No welcome pack yet!
I have even received their (email) remainder to complete the switch to be able to have the 200 pounds reward.

Can I do the online switch without having the account numbers? Will they tell me on the phone?

Also: during the online application, I am sure I have already asked the switch and provided full account number for the A/C to switch to them. Why should I do again the switch? Why was that part of the application done then?
  • Whats co-op faster payments like? Whats the limit? I want to cycle £800 through but concerned about it not coming back immediately? I'll do a £1 tester but it's more the limits I'm curious about

Ok, now have card reader + card + pin and received today a letter saying they have started the switching process. I don't know why they couldn't have just texted me that information. Maybe they lost my mobile phone number.

Conditions are as always clear as mud. The letter says 2 standing orders OR direct debits, so now its saying if you transfer just 1 standing order and 1 direct debit it doesn't qualify. Ho hum...

    antispam: according to http://www.ukpayments.org.uk/faster_payments_service/value_limits/ it's 20K

recieved card, pin, reader and checkbook so ready togo even got the start date
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Oh no, I have a feeling I gave the wrong account number that I want to switch from! I have two accounts with the same bank, one I use (with one DD set up on it) and the other I don't use much (with 2 DDs set up on it). I have an awful sinking feeling that I gave them the number of the account with one DD (and no SOs)!!

    :eek::eek::eek::eek:

I'll be gutted if I've messed this up for myself! I'll call the switching team in the morning to check which account details I gave to them but in the meantime, anyone got any ideas?

Chances are they've not even requested a list yet, so you have plenty of time to setup some SOs for them to switch.

I got a text on Friday saying they had requested a list and one (apparently the only one!) of them has already switched! I was only alerted to my mistake when I logged onto Paypal tonight and the Co-op details are there. Paypal is the only DD set up on what shall now be known as the wrong account!

    - Question - Isn't it possible to change some/all your security details the first time you log on. You must be able to change some of them, surely?

There are 6 pieces of security info they require when your account is setup -

    Memorable Name
    Memorable Date
    Place of Birth
    First School Attended
    Last School Attended
    4 Digit PIN

When you log on you are randomly asked for an answer to any one of the first 5 questions and two digits from the 4 digit PIN.

When you log on you can change any answers to the questions online but only by contacting their call centre or submitting a secure message can you change your PIN (1-2 day response time for secure message). If you want to change your PIN over the phone you have to supply answers to two of the above questions. This means that a person in their call centre, should they want to act fraudulently, has your acc no, sort code, two secure answers and your PIN. Shouldn't take too long to get into your account when they get home having been fired for playing Angry Birds.
