Breach of confidentiality by employer

But that IS the point, or at least a large part of it!
They are not, realistically, for this purpose "bound by their own policies! The clue there is "own policies" they can change them if they wish.
As I said earlier, there MAY (i.e might just possibly) be a breach of the DPA but, even if there is, I wouldn't put a lot of money on you being able to do very much about it.
As others have said the most you can realistically do here is ask them nicely to desist and maybe report the DPA breach (if there is one) to the proper authority.0 -
No it didnt it said that if I passed on incorrect(their definition) information about them they wouldnt hesitate to undertake legal proceedings.0

I dont know what court action you bring about for someone purposely intending to harm your career - which is *possibly* what is going on here - could OP maybe get an injunction out against these people if he can prove they are doing whatever it is they are doing with regard to information leakage to stop him from gaining employment?0 -
Yes I think your probably right in some respects,Uncertain, but they are funded on the basis of adhering to these policies, plus I think if they continue I would be able to get an injunction out on them. I will write a letter expessing my upset and ask them to kindly stop and if not I will take out an injuction on them.0

"This was after I had tried to completley ruin the companys repuatation" and you expect them to keep this quiet or even lie on your behalf??
And by the way, there are three spelling mistakes in that admission of yours. That is all three words with more than five letters. Is that indicative of the standard of your work?0 -
ok, don't have a nice word with them, go straight to court. No point debating it further if that is what you are set on.
Good luck and let us know how you get on and what it costs!Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -

If your definition of "maybe" is one or two percent - then maybe!0 -

Erm we have already established that OP was being sarcastic when he said he attempted to ruin reputation
I realise that on forums things can get misunderstood, but it wasnt difficult to realise given the context of the the OP's stance that he was being sarcastic!0 -

Not I'm not.
I'm trying to convince you that there are generally faults on both sides, things are not as black and while as you seem to think and that some rights (even if they exist) are difficult or impossible to enforce due to the cost and risks involved.
Clearly you are only prepared to listen to those you agree with. I only hope, for your sake, they prove to be right and you don't end up spending large amounts of money on fruitless legal battles.
I'm out!0
