Good Morning

Thanks Muffy for stopping by :A
I do look at everything I have achieved over the last year and get a little bit proud of myself. I know that if I hadn't had my LBM then I'd be still deep in the mire and probably even deeper. Some days it is difficult looking at how far there is to go and I know I'm going to be here for a long time to come, but one day I'll be out the other side and it will all have been worth it.
I know I am being ridiculous but is anyone else starting to worry about the big 'c' in December. I have started planning already. How hopeless am I?
Yesterday was another good day
No money spent and a PAD to the card
No plans to spend anything today but seeing as it is only 7.45am I might be counting my chickens :rotfl:
Fat club tonight  I put on 5 and a half pounds on holiday  so I hope some of that has come off. A little visit to the gym last night might have shifted a couple of ounces but I'll have to wait and see what the scales of terror reveal later
Have a great day

Hello Freeby, nice to see you.

Poor car, but having the money saved up for a rainy day (maybe not the best analogy seeing how the weather has been) has clearly made all the difference. Freeby is in control of her finances! :j :T :j :T :j It's when something like this happens and doesn't create a crisis that it becomes clear you are winning. Yes, it's annoying for the savings to take a dent, but that's what they're there for.
Anyway, jolly good.
That event in December (Ani will doubtless hunt me down if I mention the word! :rotfl:) - yes, I'm sort of thinking about it. That's as far as it gets to date but some of the best advice I ever saw to reduce the stress was to think about what you really value in it and what you're doing because it's 'tradition' or 'expected'. There's nothing wrong with getting rid of a tradition you aren't truly happy with. There's a book *goes off to have a look* called 'Unplug the Christmas Machine' (Robinson and Staeheli, 1991; I think I got mine 2nd hand off Amaz0n) which I found helpful but that was mostly because there were other issues apart from financial to be coped with.
Actually that was an interesting little search which means I am about to deal with a broken bookshelf (was already broken, is now cleared to mend) so I'm off to collect the wood glue.
I really think planning in advance and standing back to have a good think about it all from time to time makes a huge difference. Er... that's Christmas, btw, not overloaded bookshelves.

Hello again

Thanks for popping in miggy :A and I hope you won the battle with the bookcase :rotfl:I think the problem with the dreaded 'c' word is not tradition for me personally but expectation  I feel a pressure to keep up with those that can afford whilst forgeting that I am one of those that cannot afford
I worked on it last year and succeeded and I plan to do better this year and (to my shame
) have a list already
It has been a spendy old month for me and so August will have to be much tighter if I am to get some of my savings back and get a little bit more of my horrendous debt busted. I know I can do it and I know I'll get there which is a darn sight better than I have ever known before
I spent a small fortune yesterday and blasted my budget out of the water but I spent money I would have to have spent at some point anyway so I sorta feel comfortable with the thought that it will all even out eventually and I'll be back on track.
It's funny though, because I was blowing my budget I also blew my healthy eating
It seems as if my little brain can't cope with controlling one thing and not controlling the other and if one thing goes then everything goes
Back on track today though and I'll let my obsessive side take over again
Have a great day

It's Monday

I feel I should break into that well known Boomtown Rats tune right now, I always struggle to get going on Mondays and it is even worse when the kids are off and still in bed. I need a rocket on Mondays
It was an uneventful, spend free day yesterday :j full of housework, cooking and the Olympics. I just love the Olympics and the biggest decision I made yesterday was deciding what to watch
My diet plan went out the window..........down the street.........round the corner........and off into the neighbouring county
:o so today is salad and gym before the dreaded scales of terror tomorrow night  You don't need to be Mystic Meg to predict that it's not going to be pretty
Have a great day

Good Morning

Just flying in before I head off to work.
Another NSD yesterday and a little PAD to the Carp 1 card this morning, so things are all ticking along very nicely.
In fact, that little payment to the card this morning brought my balance down to 2 figures :j:j I wish I could just pay it off but my finances just won't stretch that far
Roll on payday when it will be gone forever :T In the meantime I shall just keep PADing to get that final figure even lower
I went to the gym yesterday and am feeling quite smug. My running is just getting better and better and I'm even thinking about entering myself into some races next year  then again maybe not :rotfl: I think I'm quite good but other people may well point and laugh
Have a great day

Hi Freeby, the bookcase and I are in a stand-off! I never managed to find the two small missing pieces but DH was throwing out a piece of wood which I grabbed back, saying 'That's exactly what we need for the bookcase', so it's now made into two pieces which are sitting on the bedroom floor awaiting our return.
It's interesting that you find spending and eating go hand in hand. I'm not sure what the answer to that is, unless that you need the occasional treat. Maybe it's one of those things where, if you delve into your childhood, you'll find that you once learned to associate both food and spending with feeling better? Or maybe not.
That certain December festival... maybe fifties stuff will be all the rage this year and we can all make paperchains?
