Ahhh, well, let's think....ok, this is what comes off of the top of my head:
Behaviourism picks up the main elements of the nurture debate (the old sins of the fathers debate), but what about nature? There has to be an issue of intelligence and the development in cognitive reasoning....
Plus, behaviourism never really addresses the basic point of individual differences and its influence on decision-making capability - even in same-sex monozygotic twins raised in what's considered to be the same environment (quite a lot of old US research in this area).
Of course, then there's proportionality - while it's acceptable to involve the sprog in low-level decisions (what socks to wear) because it's the human version of cotyledon, there has to be some form of experiential filter (based on your knowledge of nutrition etc it may not be sensible to agree it only has to eat jelly worms for the week, month, year...).
I'd also be wondering about the impact on the family dynamic, and the ongoing benefit/consequence to the child's socialisation - especially given that you can't ensure it will be allowed to engage in similar decision-making opportunities outside your own environment...which raises an issue around the importance of consistency in enabling the child's learning...
And finally, there's the 'don't wanna' angle - where, as an adult, you simply may not want the child's involvement in deciding whether to stay and listen to the intermezzo, or nip to the bar for your alcohol.....
I thank you, I thank you, I thank you. Appearing all week at a laptop near you....*bows*
Now, how else can I help....oooo, I know....*scurries off to eat lots of chocolate and remove Freeby's stress around task number 10*

Oh, and what school has the time and teaching capacity to allow every child to be consistently involved in decision-making? Socio-economic factors rearing their head....0

You've really cheered me up. Even if I have absolutely no idea what you're on about.Free by FiftyDebt of the Moment -August NSD Challenge 14/150 -

Well here I am again. Another dreich day but at least it's not snowing (yet!)
Family Allowance in the bank account this morning
only to be paid straight back out for a cc minimum payment. Another one done and dusted for this month
My spreadsheet didn't tally with my bank account this morning and it took me ages to figure out what I'd done wrong, seems I put something in my spreadsheet twice in two different budgets
So I am better off than I thought
Only £17.50 but, that's a blimmin' fortune to me at the moment.
I have a little list today, not much, wouldn't want to over stretch myself, I do have to go to work you know
1. Go to work
2. Try not to stop too much when I get there
3. Post ebay parcels
4. List even more stuff on ebay
5. Parents night (don't be late home from work)
6. Eat chocolate
That'll do for today although I may struggle with number 2 :undecidedFree by FiftyDebt of the Moment -August NSD Challenge 14/150 -
I'm looking for the link to the snowbally calculatory thingy but can't find it.

Can some nice, kind soul please give me it?
Thank you.
Dunno why I'm looking for it, I have my own snowbally thing in my grand plan but I'd be interested to know what it says.

Been away for a few days (working/sleeping) and have now enjoyed a catch-up. I don't suppose there are any truffles left are there?
Just thought it was worth an ask!
Loving the essay-making! (Word for the day: acciaccatura, of which I have some to tackle 'cos I've got my piano lesson today
). It's a quick little note, and as you can see I don't do quick little notes.
Well done on that there beooootiful ceiling and, of course, the lovely walls. Every time you go in there you can admire (I would) and say 'I did that - and what's more, I won't have to do it again for ages'.
Thanks for the Tesco link: I'd not come across it either and it sounds very useful. Mustn't side-track and look now but if I'm rootling through the recycling later I will think of you.

Miggy's just broken my little dictionary - it doesn't have acciaccatura

However, I do have the internet - which has bigger dictionaries...:)
And so....
Whilst the application of an experiential filter is clearly important, one might consider the involvement of the child in making decisions to be the equivalent of acciaccatura - that is to say, not essential to the final decision, but a way of encouraging debate through dissonance.
