Thought I would update this thread
Just been on phone to Sky to enquire about cancelling and got offered the £49 deal with free installation (which in my eyes is a good price). But the meaty point is when I started to talk about the possible scrapping of the £10/mth.
The guy on the phone from retentions (Steve - nice blokeUserID STB12 ) was very careful in his answers, commenting on how calls were recorded etc. But he said he may have heard it, and there is usually no smoke without fire
So I've gone for a heavily discounted new SKY+ box and hoping the monthly charge gets dropped without me paying once!
The guy even put it in the notes field of the order that I had been promised the PVR2 box and not to install anything else... just proves it matters who you get through to!"Getting Married" - The act of betting half of everything you own on the fact you will love someone forever :rotfl:0 -
I phoned up today and threatened to cancel.
Got sky+ upgrade for £49 and free installation.0 -
Hi,
I just phoned asking about the all in one package. Unfortunately it is not available in my area. I have not been with sky for @ 8 months, and had received some half price offers. The confirmed that these are no longer available. I asked what was available and he replied that the standard £15+ packages were available. I asked about sky+ and he said it was £49. This (he said) was the standard price and not a special offer. He said it was a one-off fee. I asked whether there was any further charges and he said no, oh wait a minute £10 a month. So I said £120 a year and he said yes. Is sky+ worth it?
And what happens if you have a sky+ box with only an £18 package? Is it worth having or not?
Are the original sky boxes due to be scrapped and the sky+ becoming standard therefore free? All seems a bit weird to me.:starmod: I am not that savage :heartpuls But I am a Vixen :staradmin0 -
So I just phoned back cos I was really confused, again I was offered £49 sky+. I had explained that the most I could afford monthly was £18 and he said that it was a one-off payment. Then again (only when I specifically asked ) did he explain the £10pm cost. I think this is really bad, as if I hadn't seen this website, I would not have realised the further charges but just ordred the sky+ box. He said that for only £34-37 this service would be free. I laughed that is enough to feed a family with (almost!) for a week and a ridiculous amount to spend on TV. He said have a nice day and hung up.:starmod: I am not that savage :heartpuls But I am a Vixen :staradmin0

Sky are scrapping the charge (99% sure) from feburary/march.... after that, ill doubt they'll discount the box by that much"Getting Married" - The act of betting half of everything you own on the fact you will love someone forever :rotfl:0 -
there is another thread that suggests that you should probably wait until the 12th Feb as there will be some major changes to the way sky+ work, it could be that you can original sky will no longer be available and all boxes will be sky+ or that subscriptions will fall

I got SKY+ for free:T
Conversation went like this:
ME: "Hi i want to cancel SKy as NTL are doing a digi recorder cheaper than you or i may get a HDD recorder and freeview"
SKY: "How does SKY+ for £40 sound? "
ME: " How does Free sound"
SKY: "Ok is next thursday ok?":j
There is a thread on here somewhere with tips as to which day to ring as they have so many offers a week.
The best thing is i cannot even get NTL in this area:rotfl:It's not paranoia if they really are after you.0 -

Hi
where is the thread, as when I search chat forums for 'sky' it says there are no matches to that request. (Despite me seeing 3 on the first page including this one!)
Thanx:starmod: I am not that savage :heartpuls But I am a Vixen :staradmin0
