Are these deals you are talking about with 3 new contracts or upgrades?
I am also looking for a real cheap deal -
    - new contract with option to transfer my existing PAYG vodafone number
    - approx 100 mins per month cross-network
    - no phone needed
    - must not involve cashback

try e2save - they have some good deals with reconditioned phones on 3. I have had two deals now and with cash back and selling the phone on Ebay at the end of the cotract I ended up in profit (just).

Oh and for those of you who want to transfer your number and think you can't do this as they are newbie deals - just buy a tesco value sim (£3+£10calls) transfer your number use the £10 worth of calls then transfer it back to a new contract on 3 again. Sweet.

How long do you have to transfer to a payg sim for in order to then transfer your number back to a new contract? I've got two very old numbers (we've had them for 10 years!) with Orange paymonthly at the moment and haven't seen any great deals yet...so need to transfer to payg but still be able to PAC to O2 or Orange in the next month, two months etc...

Yes they have sold out - they told me that they only did it for one day and then only as a second handset....
