  • Woo, my eBay items are selling better than expected! All profit straight in the savings!

Think I got quite lucky because I inadvertently but very cleverly listed my item 15 minutes prior to another ending, so everyone who missed out jumped on to my sale :D (not to mention a few direct offers to buy!).

£92 is a lot but I've been thinking about this bag for 2 or 3 years now, so it's definitely not an impulse purchase!

I'm also celebrating a job promotion with a ~50% pay rise, so thought I'd treat myself!

Ar well done on the promotion love :j You definately did deserve the bag then hun, especially as you've been eyeing it up for all that time :)

I wont be putting much away this month as I'm saving the 12K through selling on eBay. I've never done eBay before so it's a slow start and I'm only listing the profit. It will be interesting as the year goes on to see if I get any better at selling. Just posted a couple of things today, so off to update my spreadsheet. Interesting about 'free listing weekends' - that's new to me. I do find it takes quite a long time to upload items by the time a photo is taken, (I usually have to crop it), write a description, weigh and find out the postage and then finally go live. Someone mentioned 100 items in a weekend!! I think that would take me the whole 48hrs.
  • Don't forget - Cash ISA's and regular saver accounts could earn you even more interest!
Thanks! I've got an ISA and the Santander first home saver too (that was a really good mix of regular saver but with a good initial deposit, pity they have discontinued it now). The santander esaver will be for dripfeeding into either the other santander accont, or a new regular saver... Trying to work out whether firstdirect is worth the faff, may do it in april when my cash isa's bonus runs out so I can a field day of looking at new accounts.
But hey keep the suggestions coming because posts such as yours are what help me discover such wonders :)

Ok, feeling totally demoralised today, back from our lovely weekend away with the horrible cold, the house feels more freezing than ever after staying at a warm hotel and gutted I've missed the free listing weekend on ebay!!!

Really must pick myself up, will be watching Super Scrimpers on C4 tonight for some inspiration!

Desperate Housewife, I've been meaning to ask you for ages, do you have a recipe for a very thin crust bread for BM please? I use my BM a lot, however, the bread always comes out with quite a thick crust and gets very hard the following day  thank you

    Hi alionaear,
I do my bread by hand using 3.5 lbs bread flour, 2 pints warm water, 1 tspn salt, 3 tspns yeast (Lakeland is the best for me) 1 tpsn sugar.
Knead it up and it makes 3 loaves and 8 baps which I do in my remoska.

If you want to use the BM, try a sandwich loaf as they come out softer :)

Will give this a go, as I'd like to buy another house without a mortgage.

Did a financial review & overhaul at the beginning of the year and have opened a new savings account with £3,807 last week. I currently can save £1,000 per month, so fingers crossed that £12,000 should be easily attainable by the end of the year, (I am allowing myself to dip into the savings for emergencies).
    100% debt free
House - bought and paid for
Contents - bought and paid for
