Deffo! £6000 is my target which is rather ambitious but I will be sooo much better off this time next year whether I reach my taget or not!

I made my target £5000 because I know it's probably a bit too high, that way it will hopefully motivate me to save more towards the end of the year when I always seem to fall off the wagon a bit! If I set a target of £4000 it would be easier to reach and not so much of a challenge.

Having said that I've just been eying up two pairs of shoes and a pair of boots that I want on the Next website  ...must resist...

Next is my weakness .... ordered 2 tops last night!!!

I have allowed up to £100 for spending each month wether it goes on clothes or unforseen outgoings - so that's dentist and clothes this month :P I am more likely to succeed if I have an allowance for treats!

:D My Dad who has always been a master of occasional random acts of generosity sent me (and my brother) £500 to celebrate finally selling his old house:beer:.

I'm not putting all of it in my savings, some is going to my loan and some to my TV and computer fund (I've now just about got enough set aside to buy both), but I've transferred over £200 :j.

If I keep getting random unexpected windfalls like the last few months I may have to double my target. First the tax man and now my Dad, maybe next month someone will give me a winning lottery ticket ;).
  • It was this recipe: http://m.wikihow.com/Make-Condensed-Milk i have to admit ive never had it before but i used a bit less sugar and the brekkie bars are fab! Even had one before netball for a sugary oaty fix :0)

Kittenkirst, thank you very much for this :D

Here is a quick recipe for those with sweet tooth:

    3/4 pack digestives
1 can of condensed milk (or home made as per above :T)
a handful of walnuts (or pecans if you prefer)

2 tb spoons of cocoa powder

wizz the digestives in food processor, then transfer to a large bowl, do the same with walnuts, add cocoa powder and mix well, finally add the condensed milk and stir well (the mixture is going to be very thick and sticky). Spoon some of the mixture into the freezer bag (or clingfilm) and roll to a sausage shape. repeat with the rest of the mixture. put in the fridge to chill. this amount usually makes about 3-4 sausages. once chilled slice and serve. DELICIOUS!!! Can be frozen as well ;)

Oooh forgot to say, feeling dead pleased: thanks to lovely forum peeps on the "for where you are" board, I went to a local college (Leicester college) to get my hair cut. It'd been over 6 months and the cut is fab and only cost £4 (&3.60
For parking). Now I know where it is next time I will walk :0)
Nice haircut, ridiculous Price= happy KittenKirst!

I think the last one was a couple of weeks ago so I would expect one in the next fortnight - its usually once a month. They normally send an email out a few days before.
Pay off all my debts before Christmas 2015 #165.
  • Oh I cant wait until the 15th until hubbie gets paid. His account pays all the bills but theres always a few hundred extra left over to add to the savings wohooo.

This is so addictive im wishing my life away waiting for payday lol. Its great having so much support as well.
    Mortgage deposit target April £9000
New mortgage deposit target May £8000 to go
  • I looked on HUKD yesterday when I got home from work and saw that if you buy the sun newspaper there was a £5 off £30 spend so I sent OH off to the shop and he got 2 papers so I did my usual trick of us getting 2 trolleys and asking the cashier to stop at £30. Just spent £56 and got a humungous amount of stuff from Ald! and the fridge is full of fruit and veg its lovely. Saved £10!

Just sent some money off to the ISA and the grand total now is £1k!!!! I've never saved so much at this time of year before despite always being frugal.

Did anyone esle watch superscrimpers on C4 last weeK? I thought my life is much more thrifty and thought some of the ideas were positively decadent (note to self...must get a life!!!)

    Happy saving fellow 2012ers! :)
