no-one's fault, which is why i didnt bother trying to get a refund and ended up paying more than i did for the original tickets!

they probably arent ever full because the back end of the bus stinks of p*ss and the toilet doors dont shut properly
Yeah - on my first ever trip to London, the bathroom was absolutely disgusting - someone must have deliberately peed all over the walls and sink/toilet to achieve this, and it obviously hadn't ever been cleaned, because the accumulated pee stains had become a rust-coloured patina over everything. It was the first time in my life I'd ever been grateful that I could stand to pee, and suddenly I didn't feel so crazy for carrying hand sanitizer in my handbag like an OCD person!

The bus is never full, and the seats are "pick whichever you like", not a specific seat to a specific ticket. My getting a refund wouldn't stop someone from buying a ticket online or at a bus stop on the route.

I could see the "we may have been able to sell your seat if you'd given us more notice" logic working if the buses were in such massive demand that every single seat is invariably full, but in my experience they've always been half empty at best, especially considering I travel during unpopular hours because it's cheaper.

the reason you pay money for a ticket on any bus/train/plane etc. is to cover its running costs and to make a slight profit. so now you want megabus to run the bus on the journey at a loss, becuaswe you decide you dont want to go on the journey anymore.

you purchased a ticket , megabus has not cancelled the service, so why should they refund you.

Don't Ryanair make you pay to use the bathrooms on their planes, now?

Uh, because the bus would be running that route with or without me, to transport all its other passengers?

    What strange logic.

... what's strange is that you think it's strange. My getting a refund would not grind the bus to a halt. The other passengers would still require transport.

Well, extrapolating your logic we come to the point where this question has to be asked...

If the bus is running anyway, it costs no extra to have passengers in those empty seats.
So why do I have to buy a ticket?
