Just to be clear, the stanley knife thing was a joke. I don't have one, and it took me a couple of minutes to remember what "those little slidey knife thingies" were actually called.

@ Hintza, I'm glad you caught that. I complain about Americanisms like "burglarized" instead of "burgled" all the time, but always forget the Z/S thing.

@ ^ it's £55 per month cheaper, not £55 cheaper to buy outright. Stupid thing to omit, sorry!

Hi, I bought tickets to Dundee from Glasgow on megabus.co.uk this morning so I could go view a flat, but got a phone call at 5pm telling me it had been taken, so now I have useless bus tickets.

I called megabus to ask for a refund but they say the terms and conditions don't allow refunds in the 24 hours before the tickets are to be used. I asked to speak to someone higher up and got the same response.

I thought that all online purchases were legally protected and you could cancel an order or get a refund up to 7 days after purchase - if that's not the case, is there anything at all I could do to get a refund? I paid way too much for the tickets to want to just allow them to !!!! me over (almost £30).

I'm in Scotland, in case the laws are different here.

you don't want to be out of pocket because you no longer need the service and going on to describe this as them *somthing vile*ing you over -- yet your happy to see them out of pocket for a seat they're now unlikely to be able to sell because of the little notice you provided.

see something wrong with this logic?

    hmmmmmmmm

I do have another flat to view tomorrow, which I suppose I may as well go see now, but I was most excited about the flat that got cancelled - was £55 cheaper, closer to town, and on my favourite road in Dundee.

I'll just go and view this other flat anyway. My Glaswegian blood is urging me to vandalize the seats of the bus with a stanley knife, though!

ofcourse, because they're the bad guys in this story th_sarcastic.gif

What an interesting character you are

The bus is never full, and the seats are "pick whichever you like", not a specific seat to a specific ticket. My getting a refund wouldn't stop someone from buying a ticket online or at a bus stop on the route.

I could see the "we may have been able to sell your seat if you'd given us more notice" logic working if the buses were in such massive demand that every single seat is invariably full, but in my experience they've always been half empty at best, especially considering I travel during unpopular hours because it's cheaper.

Even more reason for them to not be out of pocket

What, because making money from peoples' bad luck and thus driving off customers is such good business practice?

Call it what you like, the service has been made available as per your order -- whether you use the order or not is up to you.

It's hardly bad business practices by not offering refunds at such short notice.

And they're not making from peoples misfortunes, they are providing a service.

they probably arent ever full because the back end of the bus stinks of p*ss and the toilet doors dont shut properly

Cant you tell i've not had a great very recent experience with megabus?!

Sorry mate, you'll just have to deal with the charge. There aint nothing you can do. I was booked onto one of their coaches, which i missed because my flight was late, so very much not my fault

Perhaps you can try and negotiate on the rent? a £5 a month discount would pay for the bus ticket in 6 months!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
