They do anyway, they just keep taking the money of us.
Objection, being forced to is a good enough reason, I thought we live in a free world.0 -

Sorry, whats that got to do with it?0 -

But the account policy went out the window last century:D
I doubt they could enforce it legally.
Would be liking MacDonalds saying you have to eat their, or Tesco saying you have to shop their.
Infringement of civil liberties
I guess they will win, but I dont like dictators.0 -
Sounds like you need to change jobs.0

Working for a rival bank i agree. We work harder and harder and the bonuses seem to get smaller (apart form this year....had a good review)
We do live in a free world. You're free to get another job if you don't like the rules.

I have a cunning plan... well maybe!
If its simply to go into a RBS group account. Why not open a account with one of the building societies which use RBS group as their bankers.
For example, Yorkshire Building Society use NatWest as their bankers, so have a NatWest sort code (60-92-04)
Just a thought.
This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
It would not work.
Yorkshire BS merely use Nat West as their agent bank because it is cheaper for them rather than doing it themselves.
In theory tomorrow they could turn round and open an account with a different bank to do the same thing.0 -

We do (to a point:D ) Just as no-one is forcing you to work for your employers. If you're not happy with these terms and conditions of employment would you be better off looking for another job?Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0 -
I work for a bank too - I do have an account with them - have done since I was a student, but I also have a current account with a building society and my salary goes into that one.....I think the main thing is you have to have some form of account with them...and I know that a lot of the younger staff who have recently started with our company have been made to open a current account if they didn't already have one.....
I wouldn't do a standing order though - it takes too long to get through to your other bank - as you work for RBS do they offer you a CHAPS payment system for free? If so I would use that so that the money would be in my other bank the same day:p0
