I work for RBS and they are saying that I have to have my wages paid into one of their accounts, I don't want this and have refused before but are now saying I have to!
Can anyone advise on this, whether I can stay with my present bank, I dont want my employer RBS having any dealings with my bank account, its nothing to do with them. It is only so they can get the interest off it.
Thanks

All banks have this policy, saves them money, gains them money etc etc.
I did it with Lloyds TSB and just kept it open for wages only, and transferred them out the day they went in

Thank Stacey, can they make you do it? You were right in the fact that they say it is POLICY, Very quick reply, I got it before I posted it :-)0

If you work for a bank it is standard practise that your wages have to be paid into an account with that bank.
I would be very suprised if it is not in your contract of employment.
As other posters have stated if it is that important to you then arrange to transfer the funds every pay day.
Don't make yourself a martyr - if they instigate disciplinary action against you I think you would lose.0 -

It depends on your conditions of employment, I would guess.
I know that Lloyds had it as a requirement that It got paid in, but a number of people simply transferred it out or wrote themselves a cheque a couple of days before payday.
Check your terms and conditions, then take it from there. If you don't have a copy, then reply to the ' heavy mob' but don't indicate that your not sure of your position, simply ask for the basis of their claim. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Do you not have a union rep you could discuss this with to clarify your legal/employment standpoint as each bank may have different rules on this.0

I work for a bank and have to have my wages paid into one of their accounts. Its part of out contract. A few people have argued your point but have be told that if you don't like it....get another job! I've got a SO set up to transfer all my wages into my main account at another bank the next day. Its not hard is it?

At the bank i work at we don't have to use one of their accounts. It is our choice which bank we use. I've worked there several years, but apparently they used to do this. Although I banked there anyway.
They do ask you upon joining, but it is your choice0
