What *&^% me off recently was when I got a load of abuse off someone recently when I was offering some free cinema tickets with a short deadline so I said first come first served and someone emailed me and said how they had promised their son the tickets and I had let them down - I never promised the guy anything - his email was in response to my reply to him saying sorry but they had already gone!

Also one of the offered posts the other day was as follows (these are [rightly] banned from mse so I don't really expect to see this carp on freecycle either! [I have replaced personal details, names, websites and emails with xxxxxxx]

I have found this website where you can earn items absolutely free.
You can get: ipods, computers, Tiffany jewellery, and games consoles
including xbox 360 and the new nintendo wii.

At the top right at 'other giveaways' select your item then sign up
to the website. Once you have signed up you will be asked to join an
offer, select LOVEFiLM as you can sign up for a free trial and then
cancel it so you don't have to pay anything. Complete the love films
offer. Once completed wait for notification that you have signed up,
then go to your account in LOVEFiLM and cancel the subscription.

Go back to the original website once you have cancelled the
subscription and it should tell you that you have completed the
offer. Then go to the 'refer friends' section and refer the correct
amount of friends to do the same thing you have done to get your
selected item.

I get enough spam as it is without getting it from freecycle as well thanks!

Joined Croydon freecycle and had my Panini press collected today! Nice feeling, as I was going to throw it out as it's too heavy to sell on Ebay.

Paid £35 for it and used it twice, so it's gone to a good home I think these sites are excellent.

Posts like the one above are regarded as spam by Freecycle mods and we do our best to ensure that such posts never reach the site. Some groups however, let anyone join without approval and this rather encourages spammers. Most members who are not moderated have already proven that they post sensibly, abiding by the rules. You need to contact your mod directly(not as a post) and ask whether this is a new member who has done this. The only messages like this I have ever got have been from brand new members on their first day of joining where they join up simply to spam! These are all checked by me though and therefore my group never sees them. Somewhere along the ling it has gone wrong within your group but nothing is perfect. Members who do this in my group are banned without any second thoughts-I always find it is their first and ONLY post so they are not genuine Freecycle members. It is possible that your group is not moderating messages at all, or that the mod is only reading the subject line and if it appears ok at first glance is approving it. Unless it is a post from an establishd member(we do get to recognise the regulars)then this is a bit of a mistake.

It's quite likely that the OP of that post has since been banned and very probably had their post deleted from the list.

"a buggy as my sons wheels have come off,why does everything break at
once,a sofa any kind with chairs or anything,table and chairs,and my
sis in law has just got her own place and really needs things like
cooker,toaster,kettle,microwave,beds,anything would be a great help
aand thankyou all in advance "

wonder if they'd like a car, caravan, yacht ... maybe a luxury villa in the south of France ?

Oh and why stop at sister - why not fully stock all blood relatives homes and holiday needs.

Well recently my brother picked up a 3 piece suite from freecycle and the woman had been trying to give it away for over 3 months with no takers. Maybe some people do ask for a lot but for some people they are glad to have a home for one of the items they just cannot get shot of. Nowt was wrong with the 3piece suite by the way but they are heavy and awkward to move and you do need a van which means they are difficult to get shot of and the council would charge you to remove them. I had one woman a few weeks back almost begging me to have her fridgefreezer! All of the list on the post above ends up in landfill every week. I do know what you mean though regarding sob stories and these are not encouraged. I would have asked the person to make 2 requests not a great big list-and no sob stories.

Any ideas?
