Good morning all ,
Expecting miserable looking DH to come home any time soon as I've read Wales have lost the semi final. Ds2 was up at 4am he was so excited, bless him. Oh well it means that there won't be a problem next sunday at DGS's christening with half the male side of the family missing.
They will still be 'missimg' - its a rugby world cup final after all - and rugby is rugbyBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Finally got to the end of the thread, only took me three days (not solid of course!) to get here! I've had a very off day here, woman of a certain age and all that. I slept until after 11 am, something I haven't done since I was a teenager unless I've been very ill. Darn my hormones! I had such a lot of stuff planned for today, but feel as though I'm wearing lead boots and keep bursting into tears for no good reason.
I'm just going with it and having a duvet day, even though it's a great day for washing and gardening. Bah. I have half term coming up in a week's time so get a break from the stroppy teenagers at work, and hope to catch up on some much needed housework/improvement. I don't think I got the housework gene when they were handing them out - and that's why I hang out on the "my home is a mess" thread as well!:rotfl:
Trying to stick to MSE and OS eating but my hormones took over and made me eat lots of chips and other assorted junk last week. I have got some meat out of the freezer for an everlasting stew for the coming week which I will do in the slow cooker tomorrow.
Another sign of the times here in my home town - the local Focus went out of business recently, and their site has been taken by a Family Bargains shop (yippeee!) - but the town's tesco is literally just around the corner and I bet they're none too pleased about a load of their stuff being half the price in the new shop. I haven't been able to afford Maltezers for ages!
I just wanted to say how much I enjoy this thread, and how much it cheers me up - thanks everyone! :TI believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Hi guys,
Lovely new thread, thankyou HJ.
mostly reading, not much time for posting i'm afraid, with full-time studying and part-time work i'm limiting my time on the internet earlier in the week. Roll on May when college finishes for good and i'm back to working - what shall I do with the time? Knit probably:)
Had a busy day - make my most frugal soup - pea and mint - it has to be the cheapest soup going but lovely and hearty. Two loaves of bread and a bramble and apple crumble - probably the last as with the torrential rain the brambles are blown.
Mardatha - had another thought about the garden and lack of produce - am going to soil test for ph, as I know brassicas particularly need a more alkaline soil than Scotland usually boasts - see if liming makes a difference - i'll let you know.
HJ thought I saw you mention the road closed due to an accident - was it this road?? youngest went up yesterday to the rally and I haven't heard from him. I'm sure he's ok.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend - i'm off to finish off some knitting for selling - i'm off to Manchester again in a couple of weeks and want to go yarn shopping

I can thoroughly recommend kittie's sourdough-in-a-breadmaker recipe. It is idiot proof and yummy, in fact it's the only bread I make at the moment. I think it was somewhere on the previous thread, but if you can't track it down let me know as I've got it written out and pinned to my kitchen cupboard door!

Afternoon ladies and gents,.hi to all the newbies...
Well i had a nice walk to the CS thursday morning and found a lovely but very old side table..bit battered and scarred but i think its perfect..they only wanted £3 for it..so i hoisted it on to my hip and carried it away:D..pushing my pushchair and carrying a table under my arm..must have looked a sight..but it was so worth the bruises it left on my hips as i had to switch sides every 10 minutes:o..but nevermind..its home and looks lovely with a little cloth on top of it..with my lamp and photos of my girls and son...i have been looking for a table like this for months...i am soo pleased with it...
Have been busy sorting garden and allotments out...i am still picking tomatos and cucmbers from the greenhouse..think it won't last much longer..picked apples and ate most of them already..we have more hazelnuts then we know what to do with:D..
My lovely hubby has become a bread maker extradinere..he makes the most amazing farmhouse loaf..he has done some bread rolls too..they were lovely..so my breadmaking machine is going into retirement...only trouble is he is a messy baker:eek:...so i have bought a metre of oilcloth and we use that on the kitchen worktop...it was only £2.49 from Dunelms..they had quite a choice too...
Right i'm off to catch up on the thread...
Jackie0 i have pm'd you hun..
love to you all

Hi Westcoastscot, do you fancy a mini-manchester OS Toughie meet-up? Maybe Ginnyknit would like it too? Anyone else in Manchester? We could just have a brew and then hit the yarn shop, I wouldn't be able to do a huge all day/evening thing!
ETA I'm not allowed to buy any more yarn!Aspire not to have more but to be more.
