Good morning all ,
Well the sun is shining and two lots of washing out. I've made a batch of rice up using a 40p 1kg pack and now have 12 reused trays ready for the freezer. For any new folks, I picked up the tip on here that once the rice has come to the boil, turn it off and it cooks just fine with the lid on. DH used to get me to buy the packs of 4 individual micro rice but when the price rose to over £1 I decided to make my own and he much prefers it. :T
Floss2 your men folk have one heck of a sense of humour :rotfl::rotfl: Love it.
Mardatha anything I used to cook in a pressure cooker tasted like sewage. We parted company after I'd cooked beetroot in the darned thing and ended up with a purple speckled kitchen.
Expecting miserable looking DH to come home any time soon as I've read Wales have lost the semi final. Ds2 was up at 4am he was so excited, bless him. Oh well it means that there won't be a problem next sunday at DGS's christening with half the male side of the family missing.

After all, if nobody knows then we can't do anything to put it right for you :grouphug:.
Well said.
I have been racking my brain since last night to think who has stopped posting since the new thread began. The idea of it has really upset me. That upset is compounded with the worry that a post telling newbies that some regulars find the thread "off putting" will in turn put the newbies off and kill what is a valuable and enjoyable thread.
I have personally pmed Kittie who knows that I would love to see her posting again but maybe her priorities have shifted and she is enjoying posting on threads with a different focus.
So can I please reiterate that this is a lovely thread and I think we are all enjoying the influx of new posters with all their tales to tell? No one is unwelcome, regular or delurker and the thread belongs to each and every poster who enjoys it.
Pouring with rain here and I am trying to stem a leak in the skylight in the landing cupboard. OH is away for the day so I shall mostly be pottering and cooking (and reading my new (to me books from Amazon), including "the Gentle Art of Domesticity which I have coveted for years. :j0 -

Dinnae fash thysel' lass.
I think everyone on here knows how hard you have worked to encourage newbies on here :A."Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-1718
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so that stupid people won't be offended.0 -
Well - I do reckon that might have been the "origin" of the bouquets (which I think??? is a 'continental' habit that we have adopted in recent years). Its certainly done to "pay respects" by people normally.0

I think the new shiny (slightly used now) thread is just as lovely as the old (very knackered) one was - but please, no more talk of wills and funerals and things. I have a really bad chest infection atm (coughing up rusty sputum, pain in ribs type of thing) and I'm feeling really !!!!!. The house is a mess (no change there then) coz OH doesn't notice it. My funeral plan's paid up and, the way I'm feeling at the moment, might well come into force soon.
Sorry.....feeling frustrated because anti bios don't work immediately and I'm fed up!Normal people worry me.0 -

Hope you feel better soon pet. :kisses3: You sound like it's your hubby who should have his funeral plan paind up.;):p:D0 -
HJ - You have done nothing wrong at all, so please don't beat yourself up.
We were trained at work in the art of email as a means of communication. In face-to-face conversation we can 'read' meaning via all those non-verbal signals, and we lose that when we use emails, texts, message boards etc. We were taught to re-read and consider content from another perspective, in case the message was open to being taken the wrong way. Can't say I am particularly good at it, but I do sometimes see things on here being picked up one way when I read them another, so it's easy for the wrong end of the stick to be grasped. I just put a bit thicker skin on when having online convos, bite my tongue a bit more and try not to post in haste! Oh, and I have to accept that unlike at home, I am not aways right :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -

Do you have any evidence/links to support the theory that the custom began because the 'victims' needed confirmation that they were indeed dead or is that just your own theory? I would be very interested to know.
Pink
Regardless of its origins it's a custom I personally dislike.Living by one of the most dangerous routes in the country there are bouquets everywhere. I see no need really as we don't lay flowers where people die if they haven't died in an accident. (Unless you're Princess Diana
) Imagine how full of flowers hospital beds would be if we took this practice to its logical conclusion.
My family are instructed to do no such thing if I croak on the road.
ps Don't mean to offend anyone with this view and I understand that some bereaved may get comfort from it but I don't understand it from my point of view.0 -
Hugs to Hobsons, feel better soon
Now back to topic - leather chaps - oh sorry..mind wandering..menopause... Actually I don't really like chaps without the jeans but they look better with some coverage under as seen in the village in Manchester ie leather undies. I do adore long hair and leather pants and tattoo's but thats mostly what I have grown up with in goth land.
Right must go and buy eggs, yes thats all I need unless I spy whoopsies!Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0
