When I bought mine at the end of last year (triumph 9500 professional) it had a guarantee in it. It effectivly lets you use it for up to 2 years then, if you deem it to be not worth it, get a refund. smashing! This is what the guarantee says :-

    For UK only

    24 Month Performance Guarantee.

Improved oral care does not happen overnight. At Oral-B, we recognize that fact. Thats why we offer you 24 months to adjust to the new Oral-B Triumph. With daily use, you will see how the Oral-B Triumph significantly reduces plaque. If you don't, send it back for a full refund.
That's our promise to you - if you are not happy with the results, then we aren't either. To help us provide you with your refund, please send us your Oral-B Triumph within 24 months of purchase along with your name and address filled in below and the original till reciept indicating the purchase price and date of purchase.

    Oral-B Performance Guarantee
    Braun Cashback (BC 024)

Sorry. No refunds will be made if your Oral-b Triumph was damaged by accident, neglect, unreasonable use or lost in the post.

The Oral-B Triumph must be sent in its original packaging and be postmarked no later than 24 months after the date of purchase. Please allow 6-8 weeks for handling.

    Cheers

That sounds like good Customer Service care to me. I think my old Sonicare only came with a 30 day trial. The warranty might have been for 2 years but that was if it broke down.
  • Alright. I can see some logic in a £72 toothbrush being better because it is half price. But does this equate to a better saving than a 37.50 one?

Answer - no. High-end consumer products are the ones companies ream the most profit from. Large profit margins indicate a larger ability to reduce prices and also indicate poor value for money.

In short, why pay £72 for a toothbrush that is probably only in real value (to produce etc) only worth £10 more than the 37.50 one.

This is money savers after all!!

The Triumph recognises and optimises the speed for different brush heads giving you the best performance from them. It also tells you when to replace each brush head due to them containing microchips. Therfore if you only use a brush head once in a while you will know when to replace it, and this also applies if you are a family sharing the same toothbrush handle. The 8500 doesn't, it makes you guess which speed to use with the different brush heads. I doubt that top speed provides the best performance for each different brushhead.

The Triumph appears to be less bulky than the 8500 toothbrush handle and more ergonomically designed.

The Oral-B 8500 charger/docking station seems very bulky. The 9500 comes with a universal voltage travel charger and a travel case. People have noted that the 8500 docking station is unstable unless it is screwed to a wall.

I consider getting the best performance worth paying the extra few pounds. Especially if the toothbrush handle lasts for a few years. Also the smaller and more useful charging and travel system appeals more. Otherwise I would have opted for the 8500 deal on Amazon.

Well a discount from £164.99 (see Argos and Boots) to £72.50 is a rather large saving and the 8500 sells for around £74.99 excluding Amazon.
  • Hopefully the link below will work and take you to a post I added regarding cheap brush heads for the Triumph toothbrush:

A couple of weeks ago, I researched the internet and found out that most people think the sonicare are better than the Oral-B.

Anyone has a view on this?

I have a sonicare pro elite and it is worse than my old normal braun oral b toothbrush in that the heads are very expensive and collect a load of gunk in the handle due to leakage of fluid from the head. Requires loads of maintenance due to poor design in my opinion. The cleaning is on a par with a standard oral b electric toothbrush.

My Sonicare which is not an elite model, gets limescale type gunk on the plastic bit which is behind the toothbrush head. I am not really sure what the need is for this plastic strip behind the toothbrush heads. It also gets gunk (toothpaste etc) clogging up the part which secures it to the handle. My sonicare has cleaned my teeth well although its life is coming to end, as the battery is dying. Due to the brush head coming to the end of its 6-month life I thought I would invest in a new electric toothbrush.

As I only placed my order last night, I cannot comment on delivery or the item as orders usually arrive within 7 days.

    [/QUOTE]

Item arrived today via courier. Picking and packing form stated yesterday's date. It came in a sturdy postal box containing shredded paper to help protect the actual product box. Rather environmentally friendly I must say using shredded paper instead of other padded materials.

I can confirm that UK users get 24 months to try out the toothbrush and can return it with all original Oral-B packaging and the receipt to Oral-B within this period for a full refund.

    Nope not at the moment.

The dhbdirect offer is £72.50 for the DELUXE version delivered. This has the 'polish mode', the travel case and includes a Probright brushhead. Amazon is currently selling the Deluxe model for £139.17.
