Yet many people in have said they did/do it and have never had a tape worm.
You'd be more right if you said you should never cross the road because there is a risk of being knocked over.
More people die (accidentally) between getting out of bed and getting to the breakfast table than do on the roads. So why don't you tell people not to get out of bed in the morning? There's a good chance that some of the thousands of people who will die accidentally in the next year will be reading this. Whereas it is unlikely that one of the 71 who will get a tape worm will be reading.0 -

Thats fair comment I'll admit but personally after seeing a live and wriggling tapeworm complete with head I'd prefer to rather not take the chance if you don't mind.0 -
I too used to eat raw sausages in the 70s and my mum would tell me I'd get tapeworm (never did) but more than raw sausages I loved raw pastry and still do. There's an ad that used to be on TV of a bloke making a pie and many times it's prompted me to make pastry. The thing is, I only like it if it's rolled and got straight edges like when you trim the excess on a pie dish (I couldn't eat a big lump of it) so I have to cut it into strips before I can eat it!0

It's funny, when we were remembering what we used to eat as a child, I told my husband I was sure that I was given raw sausage to eat in the 60's.
Glad that I saw this thread now, it would probably be classed as child abuse now if you gave your kids raw meat to eat.
I also remember being given sugar butties to eat by my grandma, no wonder I had to have loads of fillings as a kid!0 -

I bet the raw meat in the 60's was of better quality, most would have been bought from local butchers as there weren't many supermarkets then.0

This may be of interest if you were a child of the 60's.
