Stone Age man discovered, thousands of years ago, that meat tastes better and the human body digests it much more efficiently if it is cooked.

What does that say about people who, in this day and age, eat raw sausages ?? Ugh, Ugh !

They too ate raw food until they discovered fire ;):D
  • Gosh and I thought I was the only one to eat raw sausages! Growing up in the 50's it was almost an addiction with me. I had to do it in secret though as I remember my mum blowing her top, telling me I would end up with worms! I never did but the thought of eating raw sausage meat now makes me feel ill!!!

I suspect there is more cr*p in sausages these days anyway! I suppose it'd be ok with beef as people eat steak tartare after all.

used to eat little bits of raw sausage but my fave was raw bacon rind
    many years ago :)

I remember a neighbours mum giving us raw bacon rind to snack on and I quite liked it, this was in the 70's. The thought of eating raw sausages though is making me heave
  • As children in the late 60s/early 70s, my sister and I always used to pinch a bit of the raw meat out of the end of a sausage and then do it up again!

We also ate the raw rind off the bacon and really loved it.

strange that no one eats it now. the pigs are raised on a strict veggie diet and to be honest unless they are exposed to animal poo say dog or fox or human you not at risk of tapeworms. however the sausage is at higher risk of containing bugs just because its been messed about with more. bacon reallly is not a big risk if its been cured properly its going to be bug free. thats why your safe to eat the hams from europe. in the 40/50 there was a chance of catching worms from under cooked meat. any way what about the beef tapeworm and with all this tb nocking about think what your eating in your very rare beef.
  • ewwwww - raw sausages - it's just wrong IMO!!!!

When I lived in Germany in the early 80's in the area I lived I often saw kids in prams eating a piece of "fette speck" - it was a piece of raw pork fat with a rind on it. Apparantly it was good for you!! You could buy it in the sausage shops (of which there were many!), they also sold sausages which were made with smoked and/or raw meat but generally they were more like pepperami type sausages, than the ones we have here.

  • LoL no sounds disgusting but judging by this thread not uncommon!

I know my mam used to eat the tar off the road and it was ''chewing gum''!

I dont think youre even ''allowed'' to scrape the cake mix bowl these days which I used to love
