  • i am looking for a new 3 in 1 printer - the one i currently use is an epson stylus 100, its rubbish, i will never buy an epson again, the inks caused me no end of problems at the beginning, saying they werent recognised etc when they were original inks, also make me turn the machine on and off sometimes before printing, wasting more ink. the scanning and photocopying ability broke a few months ago, called the epson helpline they had no idea how to fix it.

anyway, i am heading over to amazon now to check out canon printers

    thanks for all the info

My vote goes for Canon. Epson are real rubbish, hp depends on model, but most are rubbish too. I liked only that small laser mono model. Samsung complicated.... Kodak for small user is rubbish too.

I just noticed the Canon pixma MG 5150 is half price in staples right now

Eaten a lot of ink though just printing black and white past week (about 1/3 of cartridge) - eek

I just got my refill ink from Amazon like yesterday..

Came with free flush - 30ml of the three colours plus 60ml of black....

Can't recall the capacity of the canon cartridges. Can't recall if it's 9ml or 18ml....does anyone know?

But know it has one HUGE black cartridge and one smaller one...

Kit came with syringe and everything by looks of it...will post in a few months to let you know how I get on but it says it does 1800 printers and faxes apart from epson which need a chip resetting kit....

    E

Just opened the printer pack from Amazon...came with a drill type thing so think I will need that....

Otherwise easy....just potentially messy and yes you have to leave it overnight...

But well worth a try for starting refilling yourself @ £7 or whatever it was

  • I'd recommend looking at something which doesn't have patented cartridges, such as a Brother.

On a similar basis, I bought a Brother DCP-395CN (wired, but not wireless network) for £75 earlier this year, and since buying it I've been using cartridges from eBay at £6.99 for 12 which have done the job very nicely, and very, very cheaply.

    Hope that helps,
    Richard
