  • Congrats on the shopping - and good luck with the estate agent (my fingers and toes are crossed for you - which should explain my typing from here on in!).

  • Hi.

I was going to write about how you shouldn't feel low etc. etc. but somehow it felt a little false - so we're going to try this instead...

First up, think back to before you signed up to MSE. Can you remember those days when you'd look at your empty purse and not be able to remember where the money went? Now zip back to today - ok, you've blown the budget. But in doing so, you've highlighted that you've come so far as to understand where it went, and some idea why - plus by sticking to the spending diary you're being really honest with yourself, no matter how hard the message is.

I'm really proud of you, plus I'll bet that somewhere deep down, you're really proud of you too - and the weightwatchers points totally thingy is really jealous that no-one (WW leaders included) is that honest with him.

Now. Grab yourself one of these:coffee: *ahem* a real one would be better for this exercise.....

Then sit still for a minute or two - somewhere quiet if you can. Close your eyes, and just breathe...and smile. Think of things, don't think of things, it's entirely up to you - but breathe and smile.

When you're ready (or you wake up), open your eyes, take a couple of sips from your tea/coffee, take another deep breath and get on with your evening.

This little exercise has become my saving grace when the walls are closing in on me. I don't know why it works (well, I sort of do, but I'm no expert), but it really does - remember to smile, and having a warm drink waiting for you on the other side is important, so no cheating!

    Nora.

hi hope you found your way out of hiding. Nora is a very clever person, she knows exactly what's the best thing to say. I'm also imagining the WW thingie getting all grumpy and stomping around because no one loves it enough to be completely honest about what they've eaten lol
Hope you also found your smile today. Have you started the knitting?
  • Off your food?
  • Erm...well...you didn't have me at haggis (sorry), but I love hearing about the meals you put together.

Taking your lead, I made a huge pot of 'pretend beef stew' (basically potatoes, carrots and a few other veg in beef stock and gravy), and froze several portions of it - which I've used as a base for other meals. This evening I'm just adding dumplings and lentils, but I've got some veggie cumberland sausages lurking in the freezer which are just crying out to be added to a batch....

Best of all? I was out in the rain this evening and got soaked - was thinking of just grabbing chips (chippity chips no less) on the way home...but something about the idea of a hot bath, warm pjs and stew had me driving straight past the chippy.

So this has been my first truly NSD since signing up with MSE - and I dedicate it to you, Shower, and your inspirational kitchen skills. *bows*

i've never been a fan of even the thought of haggis but i'd consider giving it a go in the guise of a pasty as long as there was no spud in there.

well done on your NSD Nora

I LOVE haggis anyway, and am defo going to try haggis pasties. I think even the step children would eat them in that form.

    Thanks for the genius idea:T
