Is Sky broadband any good?

I am currently with Talk Talk (previously Tiscali) and have had so many problems with them, including being signed up to an 18 month contract which I did not agree to

At the time my options were limited to staying with TT, moving to BT or 02, neither of which were offering very good deals so I stayed with TT.

However, I recently checked SamKnows & it turns out Sky now offer LLU broadband & the packages seem quite tempting, especially the unlimited broadband.

Can anyone recommend Sky? I have had tv with them in the past but not now. And how about their phone service, is it as good as BT?

I've always been reluctant to move my phone line from BT for fear of any problems costing a fortune to resolve.

Sky broadband is very good as long as your exchange has been LLU'd, which seems to be the case.

Sky Broadband Unlimited + Sky Talk Freetime is £7.50 / month (to TV subscribers) + line rental.
Line rental is £12.50/month or £119.40 for 12 months up front.

    They have hidden it well!

From the website after the hunt!

    Offers

After 12 months you’ll pay monthly the then applicable Sky Talk Line Rental charge (currently £12.25 a month).

Provides standard Sky Talk line rental, any additional charges to be paid monthly by Direct Debit/continuous credit card mandate. Advance payment is non-refundable. Not available in conjunction with any other Sky offer.

Bear in mind that if your line is already LLU'd by TT then a direct switch to Sky LLU may not be possible. You may have to go back to BT on a return to donor, which requires a 12m line rental contract.

How do I know if this is the case? I only have broadband with TT, phone line still with BT.

    I highly recommend Sky broadband.

When we signed up a couple of years ago they put us on the free broadband even though I told them with 3 computers, xbox and wifi phones we'd easily eat up our allowance! Anyway, we've only just been moved to the paid for option so we got 2 years free :-)

Calls to customer service are always dealt with well, with friendly staff. Absolutely no complaints here.

Another recommendation for Sky broadband here!

It was an easy jump from BT to Sky LLU, they did what they said they would, at the times they said they would. My connection is stable and never drops out. They sorted out my ping for gaming as soon as I asked them to. They changed my telephone number instantly when I was receiving nuisance calls. All-in-all it has been a great experience.

I wish I'd known about the 12m line rental up front though. I'm out of my tie-in period, and don't want to be tied in for another 12 months, otherwise I'd do it.
