Hmm, so how does the process work if this person then comes back and says they never received it? I have to refund them by Paypal and claim off the Post Office ? Is it quite straightforward?

RM may say its outside their system so you cannot claim from them. Seen posts on here
    saying that before.

Send fulyl tracked and insured via a courier. That way they cannot say it was not received.

Thanks obviously the best. Do you know if there is any way I can sell to the next highest bidder instead or is that breaking the ebay rules? I've sent the first guy the invoice with Royal Mail international Signed For as the postage, and don't want to be out of pocket on the postage, as looking at the courier prices it will be about £10 higher. Thankfully he hasn't paid yet.

  • You could ring eBay and tell them that the bidder isn't in a country you post to, they should cancel it for you,
    their telephone number is 020 8605 3000
  • Tell him you said UK only in your auction. I would never post it out. There should be a link at the right hand side to do second chance offer.

If you actually sold on ebay you would realise this is not a good idea. Read this thread and others on the forum- a sale is a sale and unless you mutually close it somehow the fees remain payable and buyer can still leave feedback. By just ignoring the first buyer and going to a second chance offer the OP will end up with two lots of FVFs and possibly a neg and non performing seller complaint.

For the record the guy has paid up and i've just sent it international signed for. My gut feeling is he seems genuine, but we'll see ! The Post Office were good and told me what to do in the event of a dispute, if he comes back and says he hasn't received it, but hopefully it won't come to that, fingers crossed. Thanks all for the comments.

I said i'd only post in UK. Am starting to regret starting selling on ebay again now, have only recently started again after years away and it's this sort of thing I wanted to avoid :(

Why do sellers who state UK only - not take a few moments to block ebayers from outside the UK?
