Seller hasn't received item but wont accept my offer to provide proof of postage

Thanks for the link soolin, the Royal Mail website never seems to load very well on my ancient home laptop. :)I think I'll manage filling the form in though, thanks macfly
I notice the RM website seems to suggest that the intended receipient and the sender may both be able to claim - has anyone done this?
Would a copy of the proof of postage be sufficient for a claime, as we can't both send RM the receipt.0 -
Think about it logically though. If you had used recorded on all those 300 items you would have spent an extra £231.00 would that have been worth it merely to put your mind at rest that this buyer is a scammer?
Yeah, that's what I meant, for it to only have happened once isn't too bad. But I think for items that I think will sell for a reasonable amount, I will only offer registered mail from now on for my own piece of mind, but I would add the extra postage cost to the listing, rather than stumping up the extra.Parcels get lost, recorded doesn't stop that at all and frankly if you are going to spend all that money becuase you think all buyers are scammers then maybe online selling isn't within your comfort zone.0 -
I would use your right to neutral feedback and clearly state the buyer claimed parcel not to arrive, suspicious. e.bay refund, seller beware.
There are several websites and forums full of tips of how to get free stuff on e.bay by feedback blackmail.
Suspect you may have just found one of the users of them...
Top Tip: first Class recorded should always be your minimum postage level .Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Sellers can't leave neutrals or negs for buyers. Just refund, claim from RM and move on - these things happen and there is no sure fire way of knowing which buyers are genuine and which are not.
Don't be tempted to leave a false positive as the buyer can get it removed.0 -

Yeah, I'm not wanting to play those kind of games, I just want to resolve it.
The only thing I've found a bit odd is that the buyer keeps ignoring my offer to see the proof of postage, even though they initially asked for tracking, but that's probs just me over-analyzing.0 -

Do you use ebay??
Firstly, a seller can't leave a neutral for a buyer, and hasn't been able to do so for years!
Secondly, why does this buyer seem suspicious? The parcel hasn't arrived, which happens sometimes, so why should they be out of pocket? As a buyer, I'd be rather cross if a seller expected me to chase the refund from RM! Why should I? I paid for something and didn't get it, so I want a full refund.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Don't talk rubbish sellers can't leave a neutral they can only leave a positive. Also things get lost in the post.
Recorded also is a waste of money and you have the same insurance for non recorded.

I aggree it's a pants service as it isn't guaranteed.
However, as a buyer, I would be put off by the cost of special delivery (the only one that is guearanteed), so I'll offer recorded so at least if someone has received the item, there is proof of receipt for me.
Thanks again for the additional advice, I can make my claim tomorrow (15 days after posting) so I'll contact the buyer to update them.0
