Yes it's very silly. If you grow up, you won't be obssessed by this futile competitiveness which is probably at the root of a lot of your behaviour. Stop measuring yourself against other people. I don't care what other people earn/do/have because I'm happy with my own situation. Envy and insecurity are extremely unattractive character traits and even more so when you display them on a forum frequented by 100,000 people; that's basically showing your bum to the world, so it's no wonder people want to kick it.

I know it is daft in sense because I dont want a sports car and all that sort of stuff they do. I know their is nothing to say they will get good jobs themselves. I know I need to be a bit less immature.

Phil, why not just spend the rest of your life sitting by your computer worrying incessently about trivial issues and thinking the world is unfair and has it in for you and posting garbage here on this site for the amusing delectation of the rest of us?
I wonder why it is, that young men are always cautioned against bad girls. Anyone can handle a bad girl. It's the good girls men should be warned against.-David Niven

Then do IT, you get a computer, a paycheck, and like me you get to spend much of the day p1ssing about. You've gotta wear a whistle, but it's no worse than a school uniform and the tea and coffee's free.

IT is one of the choices I am considering.

It is silly because most people do not feel that it is vitally important to be better than their friends (honestly). Life isn't a competition! Yes I look at my friends who are doing well or have had more luck and think briefly ooh I wish we could afford a house like that etc but that's as far as it goes. Like gabriel-ernest I am happy with what I do have at the moment and I'm proud of what I have achieved and b0ll0cks to everyone else.
You soon learn you cannot be better than everyone so why even waste your time worrying about it.
If you let your competitiveness drive you then that's good I suppose. Say for example you wanted to do better than your friends so you work as hard as you possibly can to get a first or high 2.1 at uni or you want your cv to be better than theirs so you do loads of extracurricular activities to ensure this is the case. But to get annoyed or upset cos you're not better than someone else when you're not even trying your hardest to be better is silly as you're never going to live up to your own standards
