So glad to hear you're home safe Tete, I have been worrying about you! Hope you had an amazing sleep last night in your own bed :)

We liked the house, but didn't quite love it. It was pretty near to the train track which wasn't good for the cats, and there were some of those horrible plastic spikes on the fence for cat-proofing, the agent didn't know if the vendor or neighbour had installed them but living next to a cat-hater was definitely not an option. Anyway, we were down for a second viewing last night but it sold yesterday morning. I was kind of relieved when I found out, so that is definitely a good thing. Got another viewing tonight which again looks promising. Everything in the area we like goes so so quickly, it's difficult because obviously its not a decision to make in a hurry but equally I would hate to think we'd lost out by being overly cautious. So we'll see what tonight brings!

Cinny - as NIM said, I'm feeling really angry on your behalf! It sounds as though you have what you need from ACAS, but I do have some experience in HR so please feel free to PM me if you need anything. I'm by no means an expert but have been through a grievance procedure up to tribunal stage (not my grievance, an employee) so am happy to be of any help if I can. NIM is right about the complaint needed to be raised 'informally' - I think that word is a bit misleading as you do still need to lay it out in black and white including the outcome you are looking for.

That aside, I really hope you reach a resolution soon, feeling demoralised at work is a horrible thing. Plenty more Lotso hugs for you in the meantime.

Hi everyone! Back from Budapest. Can't say I would want to go back, it doesn't hold the same romantacism as Prague does. But did enjoy spending all night in a ruin pub with an Alice in Wonderland theme! I was determined to not actually talk to OH about the problems till we got back but after having a few too many cocktails, it all came out. The next day we spent most of the day in the hotel having a talk about things. He admitted he had taken me for granted a few too many times and hadn't really thought about what moving here would do to me. He admitted he kind of just expected me to fit in with his life and he acknowledged that he needs to change his ways. I told him at the moment I love him but I'm not IN love with him because of how he's been treating me. So he's going to try more and I'm going to let him know when he's annoying me rather than bottling it up like I do now...

Hope everyone is ok and will try and catch up on the posts I've missed.

Currently sat here with no heating because the boiler turned itself off while we were away and won't turn back on again! Waiting for the heating engineer to get here but we might have to wait till tomorrow!

Hi Ruby, good to have you back :) Glad that you cleared the air with your OH and I hope that things will start to get better for you now. The Alice in Wonderland pub sounds pretty darn amazing!

The house we saw last night was perfect, there was even a cat on the doorstep to welcome us :) We have out in an offer this morning so once again I am sat at my desk unable to concentrate or do anything productive! I just don't think I have enough going on in my life at the moment! ;)

  • Eep keeping my fingers crossed for you Shrimps!!

Seconding the above Ruby, hope things improve for you now.

Cinny I def think you need to say something serious to your family before going down the legal route ... they may well not realise how they're making you feel :(

Just had a post on my diary basically saying that if I become a teacher no man will ever want me and I'll never have a life. Love the constructive input you get from random posters sometimes  Not sure how I'll respond to that one yet...

Oh my goodness Tete, I just had to seriously restrain myself from writing an extremely rude comment to that poster! His poor girlfriend certainly had a lucky escape! For the record I know plenty of happily married teachers, as well as many other married people who have demanding jobs. The difference is that they have decent, supportive partners! Sheesh!

OMG, that was so randomly rude!

Glad to have you back, Tete :) I'm glad you stayed safe, enjoyed some extra time with your girls and haven't been left too out of pocket. It was weird seeing all the news coverage of the complete chaos and devastation and then your tweets which were all quite cheery and upbeat!

Shrimpy, I've got everything crossed for you! House buying is just so stressful as it's the biggest financial decision you'll ever make and it's all out of your hands for the most part! Sending good vibes :)

Just replied on your thread Tete - I don't think that the problems in his relationship came from his girlfriend somehow ;)

Walk into any random school staff room in the country and do a straw poll, I bet the marrieds with kids outnumber the singles at least 2 to 1. It does depend a lot on the head though as to how much work you have, Grace's godmother's school is miserable for it, they do at least 30 hours a week at home, teachers have been going off with stress left right and centre as they have so little time they are even marking books while sat on the bathroom floor supervising bath time. My mums on the other hand she only does about 6 hours a week outside of arriving at 8 and working until 5ish.

Trying to get the first few crafty bits finished today to go on Etsy tonight, but managed to get all the red felt to either runb onto the white or melt on the radiator!

I had a similar reaction to your pic NIM! It took me ages to calm down enough to write a rational reply, stuff the 'be nice to newbies' rule! ;)

Had our first offer on the house rejected, which was kind of expected. Have gone back with a final offer. The vendors are apparently having a second viewing on a house tonight with a view to making an offer on that, so we will find out tomorrow. Presumably if they do go ahead and make an offer then they will in turn accept ours, if not they will likely reject and wait and see if anything better comes along.

So now we play the waiting game! (Which I'm not so good at).

Bad luck with the felt Dinah, is any of is salvageable? Do we get pics when its finished please? :)
