Morning! Hope nice weekends were had all round! Mine was far too short, not feeling very happy Mondayish today! :o OH must be getting tired of me getting my craft head on when he goes off to rugby; he came home on Saturday to find 3 new pictures to be framed for the bathroom! :o He wonders why I can't just buy generic prints like normal folk instead of having to display my 'artwork'! I'm just glad we don't have an exposed fridge to stick the pictures on as in his eyes it's the best place for them! :rotfl:

Funny dream Tete! I think Starnac's DD has more chance of being a psychic midwife though! ;)

Great idea about the crochet class Ruby! We'll eventually have a thread full of crafty granny types! ;)

Have you decided on a particular 'theme' for your wedding yet Wendz? I'd say keep the front of the invites simple and classy i.e. cheap and easy! ;)

I really want to try that cake Archers! I guess I could get a shop bought and decorate it?! Would be cheating but it'd look so pretty who'd care?! Maybe I could do it for Christmas using white chocolate KitKats (do they make them?! Could find some alternative..) and red and green M&Ms. Mmmm. Must write that down so I remember to do that! Oh and Cinny, those burger buns were amazing but I had quite a bit of help from a friend! :o

Ooh and that's a good haul for £100 Archers! :T Nice to treat yourself sometimes! :) Links?

Good news that the new job is giving you plenty of spare money Cinny! :) You'll have your big bump fund filled up in no time! :)
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

  • Oooh love the cake! And shamelessly going to steal your idea Birdie, I'm sure they do two finger white kit kats unless they were a limited edition...? If not, cadbury's fingers would work but would take longer to assemble. In fact, I think I pinned something similar for Christmas a while ago... *mind goes into Christmas overdrive as a distraction from the pile of emails mounting up in inbox*

I spend the weekend looking at card samples in Hobbycraft for my invitations, Birdie, yours look so professional! I know pretty much what I want (pinterest strikes again) but they didn't have the right bits in Hobbycraft so going to order a couple of samples online I think. Also bought a ball of oasis to have a practice at making my fabric bouquet. I never thought I could be so intimidated by a ball of oasis!

I always have tremendously dull dreams, usually where I'm at work. I honestly once dreamt about going to a shop to buy a pint of milk and being annoyed that it cost 5p more than my usual corner shop :o and that was quite racy by my usual standards! I am quite good at guessing when people are pregnant though, have predicted a couple of friends on nothing more than hunches. Tete maybe we should go into business!

I also fell in love with my dream wedding dress online this weekend, but sadly its about ten times my budget so I'm looking for cheap alternative in between hoping for a sizeable lottery win!

  • Ten times?! Wow, do you have a really small budget or is it a really expensive dress?! Do you have a linky? Not as exciting as wedding dresses, but what do you think of this blazer? I'm a bit in love but the sleeves are prob too short :o

Definitely go along to the crochet class, I'm obsessed with all things woolly at the moment, constantly scouring pinterest and blogs for inspiration, but I'm so slow! What else are you doing as part of Operation Make Friends? Something I should make more of an effort with really but I tend to find that going to groups and things - people don't seem to want to make friends outside of that environment, so you still have no-one to go to the cinema/pub with, you know? I need to just move to London where my friends are I think!

That cake is pretty fab, and an easy way to create a 'wow' I think. I too was thinking of Cadbury's fingers :D

I had a little look at your art on my phone yest Birdie - what a lovely idea! I can only imagine the mess I'd make with watercolours!

Exciting to see your new sig Cinny! Are you trying yet or just saving to try?

Did you have a nice weekend D&N? Was it this weekend you were off to Northumberland?

Both! I just can't come to terms with the idea of spending *that* much on something, darned mse!

    Here she is *sigh*

And I think the blazer is awesome!

Ooooh Ruby, I meant to ask about the crochet class. That sounds really good! Learning to crochet has been on my to-do list for ages but my fingers just don't want to get to grips with it :o

As part of Operation Make Friends I have also joined a book club. It was a new one that has just started so everyone is a stranger to everyone else. But I missed the first meeting because of OH's family crisis but the second one is this week so I'm looking forward to that. I know what you mean though, it's so hard to make friends as adults. I mean OH has a good network here and I've been accepted into the fold, but they're a group of single guys and I want some girl time once in a while!

EDIT: Shrimpy - all those dresses are gorgeous! I've fallen in love with a Sassi Holford one but again they are WAY over my budget. I also don't want to spend that amount of money on a dress. But at the same time I want to look and feel fabulous!

I know no-one in real life who knows anyone male and single - and they're ALL you know! Typical!

Good luck in your endeavours though, I like the idea of book clubs but can't read fast enough! Have you heard of Clandestine Cake Club?

Shrimpy that dress is lovely, I love tea-length. I'm sure you'll be able to find something similar for cheaper though :)

Tete that cake club looks amazing, there isn't one near me which may be a blessing in disguise! I especially love the rule "CCC is a cake club, so no cupcakes, scones, brownies, muffins, pies, tarts or small cakes."

I have found some way more reasonable alternatives, I really need to start trying on as opposed to just drooling over internet pics as I might find I hate that style on me.
ETA - am feeling a lot of love for this dress at the moment too.

When is your first book club Ruby? And what are you reading? I never seem to read anything any more :o

    Afternoon,

My theme is sort of pale pink/purple and kind of country garden style. Not sure how to describe it, we are planning on doing our own flowers on jars for the table so a kind of shabby chic type thing.

That dress is gorgeous Shrimpy. I love the look of tea style dresses but tried one on and didn't suit me at all.

Had our car MOT and service today and have to pay out 380 on new tyres. Now what we need but got to be done. Just worked out how much we will spend on mot/service/tyres/insurance/tax and is going to pretty much wipe out wedding savings. Good that we don't go in debt but i am struggling to see how we will save up that much after that. Will end up using money from inheritance which i didnt really want to do but ah well. I am hoping it is going to make OH realise how much money we need to save though as he has been a bit rubbish with saving any and keeps buying himself buts like new football boots etc where as i feel guilty buying myself a new cardigan or something.
  • That's exactly how it is with me and my OH Wendz, he goes and buys things and I scrimp and save to put money in the various savings pots. Although this weekend we sat down and had a chat about money and he now realises that it's going to take us a little while to save if it's just me sacrificing things. Completely cleared out our wedding fund when we moved so we could actually pay the deposit and fees and buy furniture.

Shrimpy - First book club is Wednesday. We've read 'The Devil in the White City' and I'm not too impressed with the choice really. The first book we read (and the meeting that I couldn't go to) was 'Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children' which I loved.

Will check out the CCC Tete, I'd heard of them before but didn't really know too much. Oh and my friend's might be single but I wouldn't want to set them up with anyone I knew!

Is annoying isn't it Ruby! I think we need to have a proper money chat so he fully understands.
