I don't feel like her mum, doctors are who she needs I can't do anything 'mum' for her.
Having a bad night, her lung collapsed as air was filling her chest cavity. The doctors have put in a tube to get rid of the air but it's so scary as she's just so fragile, I'm kidding myself thinking she's strong when there isn't even a kilo of her, she's fiesty but fragile.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Even though it might not feel like it, you are her Mum and the most important person to her. You are the person that grew her. She knows your smell and voice and that will comfort her. The milk you are producing for her is going to make her strong.
My heart goes out to yourself and NIM. You have been through so much this week. I will say a prayer for little Grace when I go to bed. She is getting the best care she can.

Hi Dinah, I followed your story with interest as we are also an Anglo-Irish couple! I do hope your lovely daughter's pneumothorax heals in the next couple of days. Pre-eclampsia is such a rotten condition, but so little is known about it. I clicked 'Thank you' for your last post-it was good to get an update on young Grace. Your description of the Monsoon clothes had me drooling! I have a big family and the one Monsoon dress I was given was passed down from baby to baby and has been put away in a drawer for my first grandchild (20 years from now!) even though it now Looks like a dishcloth! Take good care of yourselves x'You've got to tell your money what to do or it will leave!' Dave Ramsey0

I echo this. It might feel like doctors are doing everything for her, but you are her mummy and she knows you!
I hope she is doing well today. I was telling OH about Grace lastnight and he sends his best wishes xxBiggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
Hope she's doing better this morning Dinah.
I agree that whilst the doctors are doing the excellent work of giving her what she needs in medical terms, you're doing more for her than you'll know by being there for her, holding her hand, providing her milk, giving her strength. She's a lucky little lady to have you and NIM as parents
My eyes are doing well CMD! Still a little blurry at times and they've been getting tired by the evening but that's all to be expected. I played badminton yesterday and it was great!I can wear make-up tomorrow which is very exciting stuff!

How is little Grace this morning Dinah and NIM? I haven't stopped thinking about her and yourselves all morning.
I hope all is well. Sending lots of positive thoughts and hugs your way. I agree with Birdie. Grace is so lucky to have such wonderful parents xxxTotal (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Sending more postive thoughts and hope Grace is doing well today xxx
Agree with everyone else - doctors are important but nothing takes away from the fact you are her MumDebt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -
Thank you for the update Dinah, hope Gracie is doing much better today. I second CMD, you are her MUM therefore the most important person in her life. Yes, doctors help her now but no one can replace you!0

Hope little Grace is doing ok. Sorry to hear she had a bit of set back , hope things have improved now.
You might not feel like it but you are her MUm and althought the doctors etc can do everything medical for her , they can't love her like you and NIM can and that is really important.
I am glad the c section was a positive experience. Even though mine was an emergency one i found it to be fine and agree that people shouldn't be scared of it.
With the milk you might find it takes a while to be able to get much out especially as you have had a c section as it takes a bit longer. Is lovely you can help in that way though.
Take care all of you x0 -
Thanks for all the well wishes today. She's had a sleepy day as she's on morphine again, but she's had no more air in her chest so they can take the tube out again. Informally I've been told her head scan they did this afternoon looks good, her heart scan results aren't back yet - I'm praying she manages to pass up this oppertunity to give us some new medical words. Should find out this evening. She's breathing a bit better on the vent, getting closer to coming off it. They want to up her milk intake, but can't until she works out how to poop, so we're looking forward to nappy time (not a sentence you'll hear often).
She had an exciting day today - she got to meet her first threadie. Tete popped up to say hi, and brought with her the most beautiful baby blanket for Grace too. Thank you so much x
Did you find you had no appetite after your c-section Wendz? I am having to REALLY force myself to eat, as I know if I don't I won't be able to breastfeed, but anything bigger than a piece of toast looks daunting to me. Mum made me a salad yesterday and after about 1/4 a chicken breast, a bit of pepper and some leaves I was ready to throw in the towel. Supply has been okay so far, 40-80ml 5-6 times a day. I feel like I should be doing it more often, but it takes about an hour minimum and I don't think I'd ever stop if I tried for the 10 times a day (maybe that's for babies, not expressing, so several longer expressions are okay instead?)
NIM just called me up to ask about some of our debt totals and log ons. I didn't ask questions to be honest, if he wants to take on some of the responsibility for controlling our financial pack of cards I'm going to love him for it as I haven't really managed to get it sorted out lately. I'm trying just not to think about how we're going to make the payments while on maternity leave, Grace is all that needs worrying about at the moment.
I'm feeling a little better in myself today, I think the painkiller I was on was oddly enough giving me headaches and nausea. Now I've asked to only be on the codiene rather than only diclofenac (originally I was on both and the codeine may have masked the diclofenac headache) and while I feel like my head is underwater, I don't want to actually shove it underwater until I stop breathing just to stop it hurting.Canucksfan wrote: »Hi Dinah, I followed your story with interest as we are also an Anglo-Irish couple! Thanks for posting hon. I still can't believe they can't do anything about pre-e, it's such a common pregnancy complication. Her clothes are lovely, she's been spoilt rotten by everyone. She's so far off the bottom range of all the sizes she'll be one of those children who looks swamped as everything comes with so much growing room built in.
Might just casually wander over to nicu again see if I can get some good news on the heart scan....Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
