I was the same with the cake, in the end I just couldn't do it to pay so much for cake, and me being me I didn't take the easy option of just doing one type of cake, but I decided to do 8 different types of cupcakes... all decorated differently etc etc. Blinking nightmare! I had 2 of the bridesmaids and one bridesmaid's friend helping for about 4 hours the day before to get them all done in time, and I didn't even get to try a single flavour on the day!
£1.50 - £2 does sound cheap Birdie, I used to sell mine at mums school and I made a bit of a rule to always try to have £1 profit on each one after I costed up the bits that went onto them, and they were usually £2.50-£3.50, but never under £2.
Doctor has apparently signed my note saying I can try accupuncture/reflexology, so pleased to be able to get that going.
Mum has said if I stay out of hospital I can have another massage at the end of next week - I like this healthy bribery attitude!
Also have a pregnancy pilates class starting on Friday. It's only 3 sessions, but hopefully it'll help me relax.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Hope you manage to 'earn' your massage Dinah!
My cards are only that cheap right now as it's a special holiday quick sale price, get 'em hooked now then charge more for the all year round type cards (Birthdays, weddings, new baby etc)I'm just using up my old stash right now and a lot of the cards use free printables and old scraps of ribbon so it's not actually costing me much to make them
Poddle, have you thought about approaching any little local cafes for your wedding cake? If you just want something simple then I'm sure you'll be able to get a good deal if you ask around and stay away from 'proper' wedding cake makers. My brother had cupcakes at his wedding and was quoted £1.75 *each* (wanted 60) by a wedding cake lady, my friend who owns a cafe (and made our wedding cake) charged £50 and SIL was able to get exactly what she wanted as she wasn't tied to using a specific design/product; she just sent round a box of gold cases, little pearls, snowflakes and gold spray and my friend stuck it all on. They were the best cupcakes ever, no-one would believe that she got them for so little from a cafe! If that fails, then people on the Wedding board are always raving about M&S cakes.Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Dinah, I'd forgotten you made all those different cupcakes - and they were all so thoughtful and romantic and catered for everyone!
Birdie, great minds think alike - I'm just about to go and meet with the owner of this tea shop which does amazing cakes! I think they'll work out fairly reasonable and it would be lovely to have something local and bespoke.
I'd definitely consider the m&S cakes if we were going trad - they quite often have fruit cake on 3 for 2 - but some of their chocolate cakes are almost wedding cake prices anyway - perhaps it's because I'm drawn to this kind of thing...:o(that's £250 of cake right there!)

Good lord, that looks delicious... but not £250 delicious!
How about a doughnut tower?!
Totally doing this instead of birthday cake if I have a party this year!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Wow, NIM is a lucky chap to come back to that cake - looks gorgeous! I wish you were near enough to commission for a wedding cake
not that you'd be slightly busy having a baby or anything...
Where in the world are ya Poddle? Might be able to sort something out for ya.This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0 -
If I wasn't feeling so dizzy all this talk of cakes would have me reaching for elevenses.
Just sold some software on Amazon for £108, so should clear £100 after postageStill don't think we're going to hit our target for the month of clearing both credit cards, but still going to try.
Barclaycard sent me another 'transfer your balances to us at 0% for 15 months' letter.... yet tell me I have no space to transfer. Tried calling up to ask about it and I just got some irritating Indian bloke who couldn't understand a word I said and vice versa.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

If I lived less of a silly distance away I'd come help NIM get the house baby ready so you could relax. I know the feeling though, even when I was just at work last week when OH was off I was stressing thinking of the mess he could possibly, and actually did, make. But ditto everything Birdie said. Couldn't have put it better myself, and I seriously mean that considering how rubbish I am with word placement!
Good luck with the pilates and staying out of hospital! That's seriously good bribery.
Hope everyone else is well. Just passing time until I can make calls, then I'm off cleaning. Joys. Just transferred £40 from Paypal, which can go straight in the puppy fund0 -

Ps. Thanks nim, but I'm about the furthest away you could get - on the south coastLucky it's not so hard thinking about cakes...
Birdie, donut tower = amazing! I saw them do krispy Kreme 'cake' on don't tell the bride, but that probably works out silly money too! But YUM!LBM Sep 2008 debt: £27,927.04start weight: 140.2, week 2: 1380 -
I'll admit to getting a bit forlorn loney puppyish when shes in hospital but I do keep the house from getting worse / improve it a bit. I just have a LOT more drive when she's here. This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0
