Hope everyone had a fab Christmas,
As some of you already know I had an amazing one as OH proposed to me! Very exciting, so I am sure I will be boring you all with the details soon. Could do with any tips as well from those who have done it.
OH definately blew the £20 budget as aside from the engagement ring he also bought me a kindle.
CMD - hope the LO's are feeling better. The christmas pics of them on FB were so cute.
Massive congrats!!ISA savings: £25,139 Other Savings: £1750 (tied up in bond)0 -
Ohmygosh, congrats Wendz! Will Poppy be a bridesmaid? That's such lovely news
Was it a total surprise? Give us all the details!
Hope everyone else had a lovely xmas, I've just counted up how many lip balms I've received - thirteen! I mean I do love the stuff, but jeez!
Boyf and I booked our flights today, a very MSE £500 each - normal prices are around £800 but we got very lucky with sales and taking advantage of a gift card promotion earlier in the year. Now just looking at how much accommodation is in Rio during carnival and it very booked up and eye wateringly expensive - £70+ per person per night in a 16 person dorm, no ensuite, no aircon, bad reviews, in the middle of a dodgy area and a 7 night minimum stay
Saving for a deposit: £11,621.15

Thanks everyone! Yes Poppy will be a bridesmaid hehe. Was a total surprise. He got Poppy to give me a little box when we were unwrapping presents and so I opened it, saw it was a jewellary box and didn't twig, saw it was a ring and still didn't twig. He whispered to Poppy ask Mummy if she will marry me and then said something along the lines of it would make me very happy if you will marry me (not sure exactly what he said as was a bit emotional ) and i said yes and started crying and then my Mum started crying bless. He hadn't told anyone he was doing it, apparently he had bought the ring when he took Poppy shopping with him.
13 lipglosses, wow Archers! Well done on the flights but eek at the accomodation costs.0 -
OMG Wendz super congratulations, what fantastic news!!!! x0

Awww Wendz, big congratulations! That sounds so sweet!
Hope everyone had a great Christmas. I also got a Kindle and haven't been able to put it down!
Oh and shopping on Christmas Eve was actually ok. Until I got to Morrisons and couldn't park properly in a space because of all the people driving past, I couldn't reverse and straighten myself up. Was well within the lines but the idiot next to me still felt the need to spit down the side of my car. Could have been worse, he could have keyed it I guess.

Morning everyone, hope you all had a good Christmas. I managed to get some temp work up to Christmas eve and don't feel like my feet have touched the ground in weeks! Definitely having a lazy day today. Also have a three month work placement through an agency starting 3rd Jan, so that is a big relief.
Huge congratulations Wendz, such a sweet proposal! What a lovely proposal Wendz, congratulations again! :j
13 lipglosses Archers, wow!
I got so much Soap & Glory I don't know what to do with it, it's pretty much all I got from OH this year, think I may have moaned too much about not getting enough of the giftsets last year! :rotfl:
Not looking forward to work tomorrow, got to catch up on what should have been done on Friday when I was sick which sucks as was looking forward to skiving a bit. Went from having a stomach bug on Fri/Sat to getting a cold on Monday, my poor nose is so sore! I don't feel like I've had a very good break since so much of it has been spent feeling sorry for myself!Went shopping with 2 friends today, I knew it'd be a bust as 1 of them hates shopping and I didn't want her to come in the first place for that very reason but she came and just followed me around making smart comments and sneering at everything so I just gave it up as a bad job! Bit disappointed as I'm not going to get another chance to check out the sales in the good, big shops for a good few weeks now so won't be picking up any amazing deals by the looks of it!
Oh and OH got something so ugly for Christmas off his brother that it even outshines the rugby head!!!! If you can believe it. I'm just delighted. It's this... why?! Just why would you buy it?!?!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Big congrats Wendz!!
Glad everyone had good Christmasses. I had a lovely day too, OH got me a Kenwood mixer (after alll the years!!) and a Santino figure :') glad it's over now though, my womb has been pestered enough to put a baby together this year. Got insane amounts of chocolate tins again, we still had sealed ones in Summer last year. Feel a repeat coming on!It's this... why?! Just why would you buy it?!?!
Because it's immense?! That's actually oddly cute.
Haven't even been sale shopping this year. Went to town yesterday but just bought Powerslam.. thrilling! Spent the time designing the rest of my sleeve tattoo (which somehow features Raymond from Princess and the Frog!) hope everybody's enjoying the rest of their time off!0 -
Big congrats Wendz!!
Because it's immense?! That's actually oddly cute.
Do you want it?! It's freakin' massive and is giving me nightmares!
Jealous of the Kenwood mixer! Glad you had a nice Christmas although the baby pestering must be annoying. My friends yesterday said to me when I left, 'Good luck with the pregnancy!'....errr, I'm not pregnant, that's just a food baby!
Please get Raymond on your arm, he's so cute!I got this off my Mum and I'm having much fun giving myself tattoos, although I had a star on my wrist on Christmas day and gave myself a heart attack when I was going to bed as I was walking through the dark hall and glaced down to see something dark with legs on my wrist, had a major spaz-out then realised it was just the bloody fake tat! :rotfl:

Hey all. Congrats again Wendz on the engagement, such fantastic news.
Utterly destroyed by a cold/sore throat/ear infection at the moment, not feeling up to much at all.
Christmas day went well (except our shoddy electrics cut out twice during the cooking of Christmas dinner, souffl! starters were decidedly pancake ish). Everyone got on, and I think NIMs dad especially couldn't believe the amount of food I'd done - my family are the ones who instilled in me the mentality to cook for 3x as many people as are actually around the table so I didn't get any comments off them. I couldn't have done it without NIM though, he did as much of the cooking as I did, I just managed the timings of it all.
Got quite a few bits in the Boots sale - I figure getting presents for next Christmas this Christmas means I won't have all the stress when money is tighter. Also got a few maternity bits in Next sale (as well as two very nice Jo Maman Bebe dresses under the tree from my mum) as of the bundles I bought on ebay I'm only actually keeping about 3 items, the rest don't fit in a way no baby bump is going to cure. I decided spending £8 or £12 an item in Next was better than buying another 5 or 6 bundles and the associated postage and still only having a few bits which are bearable but a bit odd. Despite having some very pretty new bits I'm still sat here in NIMs joggers (although admittedly with a nice new tshirt and chunky wool cardi) because I feel too ill to look like a civilised person. Mum has also gone a bit mad in Next sale (and blamed it on dad!) buying tiny hats, gloves, babygrows and bibs. Not going to complain as it's all things we won't have to buy later on.
Of all those essential spends I think I've managed to avoid just about all of them so far! We have been looking for a mattress as we do need a new one, but I really struggle to have interest in a large peace of cream foam and springs which costs the same price as a months mortgage payment. We thought we'd found one we both liked, but the salesman didn't seem keen to sell us it as he didn't think it would suit us so we came away again. We are however looking at travel systems, if we can get a sale price and save a few £100 then it's better to get it now. Plus certain places seem to let us order now and pay a sum every month and then deliver it when we need it. Again if we can get the good price now and just pay the deposit that would be even better.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
