I think I remember that my friend who gave birth at the beg of Nov and did the NCT course in Sept got a discount from them because of their incomes? Not sure about yours and NIM's but worth to call and ask them? I will call my friend and ask later this afternoon.
Also will you get money from your heath plan once given birth? Mine gives me a one off £300 so you can calculate that money towards all of these. And yes, don't save money on safety, I had to use first aid many times in my job, I specialize on little ones (under the age of 4 but mostly babies and toddlers) and although I haven't dealt with life-threatening situation but I feel confident about dealing with any kind of accidents and emergencies.0 -

I think you need to be earning under £24,000 for the discount, we're at about double that - just in the lovely position of being stupid and in debt because you think you're better off than you are.
Healthcare plan pays out £750 if the baby is born after 4th June... but that means getting to 38 weeks, and I've been told I'll have done really well to get to 37... so not holding out too much hope on that one unfortunately.
I'm just trying not to stress. So long as the debt doesn't go up every step is a step in the right direction.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Oh, ok, that makes sense re NCT. What happens if you give birth before the 4th June? They won't pay out? Is it because you need to be with them for a certain length (I think with BUPA we need to have at least one year membership before getting the money)?0

Oooh, just had a call from Daddy NIM, turns out my brother is now looking at fairyhouse for boxing day racing, which would mean he could get the flight he already booked...meaning they might be here for christmas, yey! This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0

Exactly, 4th June is my 1 year date with them, I'm going to be going through May listening to classical music, meditating and chanting at the baby to stay inside.Oooh, just had a call from Daddy NIM, turns out my brother is now looking at fairyhouse for boxing day racing, which would mean he could get the flight he already booked...meaning they might be here for christmas, yey!
Yey, it would be quite handy to know given the date and cooking/presents etc. Btw fairyhouse sounds magical.

Well I need to use up my annual leave, so I was thinking I might finish at the end of April, take the 33 days leave then start the maternity about a week before the due date (if baby isn't here by then). If I'm on bed rest though maternity automatically starts a month before the due date, my gut feeling is I'll either be on bed rest or have had the baby by 36 weeks. This actually works out really well for me as if I have the extra 33 days leave for the 7 months when I return I'll be able to work 3 day weeks all the way through until the start of the next leave year, and still get a full time wage.
Work know, but we haven't discussed leaving dates yet.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
