    Am jealous of the reflex!

Haha Todd from neighbours, I share mine with Kelly Osbourne...

Had a lovely hot chocolate in the pub this afternoon.

Oh man, I think mine was 'Come on Eileen'! Not cool :)

So it's been a while but I've been reading! Sorry to hear your sad news Zig & Wendz, I was thinking of both of you. And big happy congrats to Star & baby Dylan. And a big hello to everyone else!

In the mean time I have nearly finished interning & getting used to the 4-hour commute & my new iPhone (which helps with the former) & thinking of some December goals as I seem to have missed October AND November!

I also turned 30... Which wasn't so bad after all :)

Birdie, thanks for your bday wishes btw! Hope you pass your course this time. Loved your kindle cases! I'm too late to join in kindle debate I know, but I'd highly recommend it. Like others I heart books & was a bit anti-ebook, but there's room for all & kindle is brill!

    Happy weekend guys! xx

Had a nice date night, although the restaurant was quite expensive for what it was, but I did like that we could walk to it. NIM dropped himself right in it when I joked early on 'oh well, if this place is no good you'll just have to take me out again' to which he replied 'what is this, the 12 dates of Christmas?'. Cue gasp of delight at this genius idea from me, and a groan from him with the words 'you know when you say something, and you immediately know it's going to be trouble, but you can't put the words back in...yeah, that'!

Did most of the money shuffle this morning (although NIM isn't paid until Tuesday-ish), and while I'm pleased we didn't go over any overdrafts, and we didn't scrape for money towards the end of the month, there wasn't much left over to go off the debts (joint account had a small overspend, bills account a decent underspend as I'm building up a float for bad months ie if the phone bill was huge). So I've paid a small amount off CC3, but I think it's possible I'm not going to reach my target of clearing that this month. It all depends if some paypal money arrives before the end of the month, and if NIM gets an influx of MS money and can afford to send some over as his float has run too low this month.

Very seriously considering cancelling the new stove and installation, saving us £1000 (and getting us a little closer to our £104 a day target for the month)... it sounds a bit of a no-brainer if I'm completely honest.

I know it will be cheaper to run, but I think it's things like the stove that has sent you into extra debt. You can easily postpone it for a year. It will be something nice and exciting to look forward to.

yeah i agree. I think that the stove is a luxury you can't afford at the moment. i think ive missed the economics of it all but surely you could try to save the money it costs to run your current heating (is a stove for heating or cooking :s ) with more jumpers/insulation/efficient heating ways like electric blankets rather etc (if it's for cooking then use the oven less? maybe try to use the hob/microwave more although i know you like to bake etc..) I think im in over my head here!!

is it the 1st of the month that we get updates by the way? how is it looking so far? and has NIM had any luck with christmas temp jobs etc that he was applying for? i think everything is pretty thin on the ground this year which is a shame :( 3 figure MS payments sound good though! how do you guys budget for tax? do you save it all ready or are you using it to save interest on the debt then will pay it on CC when it is due? because that's something which I guess will affect things and could be a big blow if you dont plan for it?

I've had a pretty dull weekend really full of working :( i at least saved on going out though which would have cost quite a bit but I'm in a really spendy mood recently! I want to go and buy christmas presents but i dont really have time grr!!

Thanks for all the congratulations on the graduation everyone. I spent a whole night shift moaning because I'm in a dead end job but then came home to find an email inviting me for an interview for a very good job. Can't give too much away because I don't want to jinx it. Just feeling very nervous now!

No it's for heating the house. I have a circulation disorder so while I am in a blanket right now, so can have the heating on lower/for less time, I need the heating as it's very difficult for me to regain the circulation in my fingers and feet once lost. We also get the mould on window frames (simply down to the house being over insulated the moisture has nowhere to go so collects on the colder parts of the plaster around the window frames) if we don't use the heating so again that's a reason we need to keep the air warm. We've decided to cancel the stove for this year though, as while it would almost completely eliminate our heating costs, we're better to just pay that monthly for this year, and we'll get it next winter.

Yes monthly update will be after the first.

When you say tax, do you mean car tax? We don't budget for it quite simply, it was just under £500, I bought it on the credit card, that £500 will be completely paid off within 2 weeks of going on the card - basically it's 2 weeks where we didn't pay anything extra off the debt as we post-event saved for the insurance. We won't have paid interest on it as we cleared it within 30 days. What it does say to me though is what a fantastic position we'd be in if we weren't clearing debt if we can make that kind of money in extra income. We'd love a kitchen extension, we'd be able to afford it in less than a year if we hadn't got ourselves in this mess again. So yes, the insurance has dented how much we have cleared off the debt this month (but not as badly as me being ill dented it!).

Free ebay listing this weekend if anyone hasn't seen it, probably the last one to get things listed and finished and posted before Christmas.

  • I think she meant tax on MSing? I wouldn't even have thought of that but I think she's right...

Phew, I've spent ALL day having a massive clearout in aid of the 30 Day Declutter (had some catching up to do as it's the 27th!) and feel so much better that everything's in order again. I seem to be constantly throwing rubbish out and yet there's never any shortage of crap to fling! It's because I can't walk past a charity shop/sale sign :o

I think you've made the right decision about the stove. While it'll be cheaper in the long run, the savings you'll make this winter alone are negligible - much better to postpone it til you're more comfortable.

I'm late Ruby but congratulations, and fingers crossed for the interview!

Birdie was it your fellow bridesmaid who was almost debridesmaided when she couldn't fit into the dress? Same has happened here - one girl, who when I saw her after a long time at the hen do, I thought she was pregnant and no-one had told me, has a three inch gap where the zip should be doing up  And she reckons she's going to lose the weight in time for the wedding in three weeks, two days. I on the other hand have had to buy one of those enormous (and heavy!) gel bras to try and fill mine out :o

Lovely to see you Poddle, commute sounds a total mare! Happy belated birthday, glad the 3-0 isn't too bad, me next!

Said it already on FB Zig but Good Luck for tomorrow, travel safely and update when you can! xxx

    Hope everyone else is well!

Aww I'm ebaying at the moment and I just lost a listing for the second time  Think I'll give up for the night with a meagre 2 items listed!! At least I did the expensive stuff first.

We have been de-cluttering too Tete, or rather tackling the junk cupboard! It's actually lots of OH carp. He would just take it straight to the tip, but I feel so bad about throwing stuff away. There's lots of weird techie stuff like slide-projector-synchronisers and near-obsolete RAM. And lots of man-shoes :o Think it's more car boot fodder - need to get on the case with that too when work is finished.

Ruby congrats on graduating - so sorry I missed that. Well done  The job opportunity sounds really exciting, wishing you good luck.

Zig, good luck to you, travel safe. We're always here for a moan. I'll be thinking of you eating Christmas dinner on the beach with jealousy :D

Uh-oh Tete, sounds like your fellow bridesmaid could be in trouble!! Has she got some sucky-in undies yet? I ended up bra-less in my wedding dress because it was taken in too much. Not sure if that's an option for her. Might be a recipe for wardrobe malfunctions!

Things okay here, got 6000 words of my paper done, and it's due on Friday. Better get my skates on!! But the end is in sight. Next deadline isn't until January... roll on Christmas parties  Anyone got any nice plans? Apart from the snow-girl :)

Sorry to hear about your poor circulation Dinah :( You'll be so cosy next year with the stove. The extension is something really exciting to work towards too.

I had a super great week at Uni :)
