Still having some problems with the sewing machine - had it to bits yesterday and it's been oiled etc.

Seems to be running fine without any thread in but still jamming now & then / thread breaking so not sure if there's a problem with the tension somewhere (don't know a huge amount about sm).

Have tried changing the stitch to a different one and, fingers crossed, it seems to be running a bit better so will see how it goes.

  • Hope no-one minds a wee pic .....

Finally finished the table throw :j - feeling ridiculously proud of myself :o as all I've done is hem it all the way round (twice :o) and very badly :o:o but it's the first thing I've made for ages (haven't had anywhere to sew since January time).

Has brightened the table up a bit:D - now ..... just hope the cats don't pull everything off it!

I agree with sista... Looks lovely - nice check. If you were still unhappy with the straightness of the seams you could edge it with a complementary wool blanket stitch or fringe but it looks lovely to me!

  • Awwwww shucks :o thanks all :o

Have actually unpicked & redone both long sides this afternoon as on closer inspection the stitching was awful (done prior to sorting the sm out) and it's looking much better now & I'm much happier with it!:)

Haven't managed a lot else today .... still really tired & no energy - getting a bit frustrated!

Going down to DPs in a couple of days - DM picking me up at lunchtime & will take me & bring me back the next morning ..... looking forward to some company for a while (but that will be long enough as I really am a home body and hate being away :o) and especially can't wait to see Maisie ..... she's been away for 5 weeks now ..... hope she remembers me!

Parents ..... couldn't think of another way to put it?

Hoping to get her home in a couple of weeks but it'll really depend as I need to be able to walk her (even if it's just down to the park as I have one of those stick things that throws balls for huge distances;)).

But I also need to get back to work as well (which will prob take a lot out of me at the start) so not quite sure how both are going to work at the same time IYKWIM ..... it may be that she has to stay with DM until I've been back at work a couple of weeks.:(

Just take each day as it comes and try not to worry about it at the moment.

  • Trying to get a bit more organised and think about what I want to achieve next year ........
    • OD - obviously want this gone ASAP
    • Pots - get these working properly: House & Car and Pets are OK but the Others one hasn't really got very far off the ground. Trying to do them all at once was maybe asking a bit much! (especially as I had to overpay to quite a few of them at the start)
    • Savings - need to try to work on these more: started several savings challenges in the past couple of years but always seem to lose my way after a couple of months
So .... hunting for some challenges to do to keep me on track. So far:
    • Weekly Spend Challenge - trying to cut down on silly spends: current plan is for any underspend to go to the OD each week (maybe through PAD but not sure if I really need to do this as well)
    • PADing - not quite sure if this is me TBH, have looked at it in the past but never actually given it a go. Am lurking on the thread this month to see whether to jump in or not .....
    • VSP Challenge - stumbled across this thread earlier and can't believe it as I did actually round down my main account every Saturday (stopped when the OD occurred in September). Think this will def be one!:)
    • £2 savers club - I do already save £2 coins BUT also save £1 and 50ps so would have to separate these out. Fund was used this year to help pay for Maisie's spay op & again in Sept to help with new car costs. Currently trying to save a bit to help with bus fares for when the weather is really bad & can't take the car to work (£8 / day compared to £3 fuel:eek:)
    • £365 in 365 days - did this a couple of years ago but didn't do this year for some reason - probably as its quite lot of money each month and don't have that much spare in the SOA! (Although I do put £25 / month away for the boiler - could I up this by £6 or put £6 away somewhere else?)
Need to think of what each one will be saved for as an incentive!

    Any other suggestions welcomed!:)
