Oh no!
I'd be tempted to leave it there too

Thanks all .... I really want to just write off the last 10 days as they haven't been the best!
Good news is that everything is now working - swallowed my pride & popped & asked neighbour's advice and there were 2 trip switches (one on main fusebox thing inside & one in the garage)... flicked them back on & hey presto.
Even more :mad: with myself that it didn't even occur to me at the time:o (no blonde jokes please!).
So .. plan for the rest of the afternoon is to finish watching the F1 qualifying, bag everything up & dump at the tip  on the way to Mr A (only need milk which Al*di don't unfortunately sell).
Badger yup, I really could cry! Freeby thanks for the tips and I would give it a try but I honestly think it's been off too long ETA everything is very soggy as it was Tues or Weds when I cut the hedge - I'm a bit more paranoid about food than most people as I have Crohn's disease so have to be a bit extra careful with what I eat.

Hi Rising,
Catalogue what comes out and get your neighbour to verify it and check your household insurance - when DS overslammed the fridge door in the garage it "bounced" the freezer door open and we were covered under our house contents policy - even with the excess it was worth claiming. Do the maths - I know how much you love maths...
A more straightforward root cause analysis than our last garage power failure which turned out to be a mouse electrocuted in a power block in the shed 50 yards away that was on the same circuit and everytime we hit the trip switch it blew again because the mousy was completing the circuit - took the electrician nearly four hours to find and fix so they are different circuits (kerching)
Practicalities apart, how awful.
My own ying and yang moments of the day - got the tickets for the olympics by tracked post :j:j:jbut one other letter to notify me I jumped a red light on Wednesday. I was travelling east and the sun visor was down and I remember thinking, "did I go through that on red?" answer = yes by 1 second :mad::mad: B****r! No point in appealing as it isn't a point of law
Still cross though

*sigh* - first batch of dog mince on ..... going to be cooking all night at this rate!
Some good news (Maisie's going to do pretty well out of this!):- Some of the dog meat is OK - the free flow mince & blocks are fine - but the cubed meat didn't make it:( (guess as it's smaller it probably defrosted a lot quicker than the large blocks)
- Human mince
- most of it is OK & will cook for the dog as it's defrosted but looks & smells OK (2 blocks looked a bit dodgy so have been binned)
- Chicken breasts - actually not as many as I thought
(I have been trying to eat through some of the hoards of stuff I've got stuffed in there over the past couple of months - really bad for keeping buying meat on offer when I've already got loads:o) - seem OK so will be cooked for dog
- Whole chickens - having a bit of a dilemma with these as they are partially defrosted but were still pretty solid in places (thick part of breasts) - they are thawing out just now but not sure whether to risk them myself or cook for dog ..... any thoughts?
(3 bin bags - although probably 1 full one to the brim IYKWIM) *sigh*
Positives (need to find some)
After I've finished cooking all this meat (only got one big pan that I use to cook dog meat so will be at it for hours!) and portioned up - Maisie should have loads of dinners so won't need to do it for ages (not really my favourite task:o)
Slight negative is that I'll need to chop & cook all the veg too! (absolutely hate doing this!)
Freezer is now defrosting nicely & once it's done & dry, I'll give a clean down with BiCarb of Soda so it should be nice & clean & no bugs lurking.
Can start restocking freezer and try to keep track of what's in it this time!:oGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

The chickens as they are semi frozen will definitely be fine for you once fully defrosted and cooked (it is only dangerous if they had started to re-freeze but you know this is not the case). You can then strip all the meat off and freeze it cooked in lumps or sliced and picked into shreds (to save thinking of what to do with it all) and this is also fine as you know they were raw, frozen, defrosted and then cooked. If your portion it for things like stir-fry you can save more time next time you cba.:)
Well done for looking for those positives :T - they do help. And there is something wonderfully cathartic about having a freshly defrosted clean and empty freezer (though I can only dream of this...)
Still not what you had planned for today but not as bad as you first thought
Thinking of you

Thanks SL yup, I think I will cook it for myself (once fully defrosted) - it'll do me several days - roast, stock for chicken & leek risotto (my fav dinner just now!) and the rest can be re-frozen to be used when needed.
Trying to think back to the last time the freezer was empty ..... errrrrr...... ummmm......:o
Trying not to think too much about the Magnums (my fav ice cream) that I'd only bought last week on offer - and had only had 1!
3rd pot of mince (last one) on - have just mixed them all together so it may be a bit of an odd mix (human beef mince, dog beef mince, lamb, rabbit, turkey, chicken) but sure Maisie won't give too hoots!
Have also done a big pot of carrots, swede (packet that was looking a bit past it's best), 1/2 bag of peas, spring greens (is this a variety of cabbage? I'm never sure what it is) and kale.
Another pack of spring greens & a big pack of carrots to do but may do them tomorrow as I'm pooped!
Can't believe I've done all this cooking & still have nothing for dinner!:rotfl::rotfl:
Did treat myself to a pizza from Mr A as really think I'll have had enough of cooking when I'm finished this lot! (and still to clean freezer and portion it all up!) - ohhhh chicken breasts still to cook.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
